  • May 2 Ascena (ASNA) jumps 11.1% after confirming it will buy Charming Shoppes (CHRS) for $890M, or $7.35 a share. The price is almost 25% above the latter's close yesterday, and is sending Charming's shares soaring 24% to $7.31. The company owns the Lane Bryant line of women’s clothing, which was probably the crucial element of the deal. (PR) (previous)
