- Monday, June 17, 1:19 PM Alliant Techsystems (ATK +0.6%) says it's landed a $50M contract from Rolls-Royce (RYCEY.PK +0.2%) to produce aft fan composite cases for the new Trent XWB-97 engine. The contract has the potential to grow to more than $200M. Comment! [Global & FX, Consumer]
- Friday, June 14, 11:22 AM Alliant Tech Systems (ATK -1%) and Alenia Aermacchi successfully complete the first phase of ground and flight tests of their MC-27J multi-mission aircraft. A Roll-On/Roll-Off Gun System pallet was installed and tested on the Alenia Aermacchi C-27J Spartan airlifter at Eglin Air Force base in Florida. - Monday, May 13, 7:46 AM Alliant Techsystems (ATK) is buying rifle and shotgun company Caliber Co. for $315M in cash. The move adds long guns to ATK's brands in commercial and security ammunition, shooting sports and security-related accessories. Earlier this month, ATK warned that a strong FQ4 "may not be indicative of future sales, as there may have been a number of ammunition orders placed that may have exceeded actual customer requirements." - Monday, April 22, 3:01 PM Alliant Techsystems (ATK) +1.3%) gains today after being awarded a contract to support the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in Arlington, Virginia for the Space Enabled Effects for Military Engagements program. Separately, the company also received a $3.2M contract through the Defense Acquisition Challenge Program to provide a low-cost, light-weight, precision guided missile for the U.S. Special Operations Command evaluation. - Tuesday, February 5, 12:54 PM Alliant Techsystems (ATK +2.6%) gains after its FQ3 beats on its bottom line, despite declining revenue. Net earnings rose 27% Y/Y, as the defense contractor racked up lower SG&A expenses and input costs. Aerospace sales were virtually flat, while the defense group dropped 18% to $467M, driven by lower sales in the small caliber systems and energetics divisions. In the sporting group however, sales climbed 18% to $288M, boosted by higher unit volume and ammunition price increases. The company raises FY guidance, now forecasting earnings of $7.90 to $8.10 a share on revenue of $4.25B to $4.3B. Comment! [Earnings, On the Move]
