Inside NPD's July '08 Gaming Report [view article]
Why is it not mentioned here that the NPD report also states that PC's are still used for gaming more than any console? That's a pretty significant piece of information, no?Why the obsession solely with consoles? More can be done with a PC than with any console, PC's can be reconfigured much more easily and more often than any console and the range of game subjects and gameplay types is more varied for PC's than for any console. For some reason PC's are apparently seen as yesterday's tech. Yet by almost any measure available, PC's represent the most flexible of the lot... It's very strange to me.

Guitar Hero Helps Activision Blizzard Rock On - And Logitech Joins the Band [view article]
I wonder what kind of potential Guitar Hero will have as single band expansion packs. Also how much is Blizzard playing and monitizing the online social hand better then Myspace and Facebook? ReplyJune Video Games Sales: Another Strong Month [view article]

The announcement of Diablo III and Starcaraft II by Blizzard cannot be emphasized enough. Fans have been actively hoping (i.e., setting up online petitions) for over 8 years to get a sequel to this games. I do not know of any other game to have such clout among a fan base.Although, the release date is not yet available, this two games have millions of fans-many of which still play Diablo II and Starcraft.
They are destined to be blockbusters and could, at least collectively, out sell Grand Theft Auto IV. Reply

In the US, sales over the past few years of console games have been growing much faster than PC games.forum.pcvsconsole.com/...
In 2007, worldwide sales of console games was 30% more $$ than for PC games according to:

Will it continue? Dunno. But it's a significant trend. Reply

I agree that the PC is better than consoles to a certain point. Years ago I was a console gamer and really enjoyed it until I discovered the freedom and customization that comes with PC games. Playing with a handheld controller can be more restrictive than a mouse/keyboard combo. Plus you do have all of the benefits of easy, affordable upgrades and the ability to multitask while you play. On the other hand, consoles aren't dead especially with the fact that most consoles are playing next gen formats like HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. A console can be a 2 for 1 in that respect as most consoles are connected to a large, family size TV and can act as a home theater while the PC is more geared for a single person. Consoles are getting better at multiplayer interfaces as well, so they aren't dying. On the other hand, if I had to choose I'd still go with a PC. The console market is just like big Dinosaurs in extinction, why? because the PC can do just the same thing as a console, it can be upgrade a very low cost and its more functional, this together with devices like the Ipod make portability not a problem, so just start thinking how you are going to through your console in the garbage in the next few years. I think gaming piracy is underestimated. Requiring and selling peripherals with a game is a great way to reduce piracy. That certainly helps sales. ReplyWill Activision Beat iTunes to the Beatles? [view article]

Frankly, its too late for the majority. They have already acquired it via the file sharing sites, and thus, this committee of idiots can keep their catalog. In fact, I say let them eat catalog. Reply
Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
Regarding Huntsman (HUN), see article beneath 2008 chart here:www.crossprofit.com/vi...
As stated in article, no position was taken in this arbitrage. As the title suggests, there were just too many question marks popping up. Upon this last earnings miss, Apollo called a MAC yesterday effectively nullifying the acquisition agreement. There may NOT be a break-up fee though HUN has gone to court!
HUN should have negotiated a new price tag though the whole scenario is very problematic as certain shareholders already cashed out. This deal looks dead; funeral dance (courts) to follow.
