    American Water Works (AWK) says that it expects 2011 EPS to fall in the middle of the range of $1.75-$1.82 - an estimate that doesn't include the $0.09 depreciation allowance for discontinued operations. For 2012, the firm sees EPS of between $1.90 and $2.00.

    American Water Works (AWK +2.5%) trades higher after reporting a mixed Q3, beating on a per share basis but coming up short on revenue. Stringent cost controls gave a solid boost to bottom line margins, as profit rose 11% Y/Y, and operating margins grew nominally from 35.6% to 36.7%.

    American Water Works (AWK) is lifting its 2011 EPS guidance range to $1.75-$1.82 from a prior $1.65-$1.75 ($1.72 consensus), citing an increase in water delivery caused by "a very hot and dry July in the company's East Coast systems," as well as favorable Midwest weather, cost efficiencies, and low interest rates.
