Consider Shorting Oracle Following Tibco's Guidance [view article]
I always admire you writing, NC, but keep in mind:

The Jan 2008 10 strike calls for TIBX are going for 30c, on the ask. Tempting, that is 2 months out, going for 30c, and the upside on the common to be @ the $ is a 25% move from here. Someone SERIOUSLY thinks TIBCO will be acquired by the 3rd week of January....

Why BEA Systems Should Sell Itself to AT&T [view article]
It would mean that IT again becomes a differentiator and competitive wedge for carriers. While IT didn't matter (thanks, Nick Carr) in the recent past, as we move to an Internet world and the back-end services are IT and the business model, then IT matters again. If all these bit-pipes use the same back-end IT, and they lose the content to Google's ad-revenue-sharing model, what do the carriers have left? Reply

Aqualogic is a suite of products that include both UI services as well as business service infrastructure. Both are necessary components for an SOA.

Aqualogic through "Aqualogic-User Interaction" (ALUI) has always had a Web 2.0 offering. They have now added "Pages", "Ensemble" and "Pathways" producs to the Aqualogic suite which are essentially enhancemnts of the basic ALUI product that makes it even easier for enterprises to treat their UI assets as services and for end-users to assemble them and use such assets and data for collaboratiion.

Why BEA Systems Should Sell Itself to AT&T [view article]
Very interesting. Considering BEA bought Tuxedo to start the company, and AT&T invented Tuxedo. That would be a 360. The only thing I can't see happening is because all the other Telcos also use BEA, so if AT&T acquires BEA, what would that mean to Verizon (VZ), Sprint (S), Deutsche Telekom (T), Orange (France Telekom), or other large carriers? Icahn To Board: "BEA Belongs To Its Shareholders, Not To You" [view article]
Well, BEA better pray that Oracle will put the deal back on the table. Carl Icahn's law suit isn't the only one they have to worry about, hundreds (if not thousands) of other investors are probably planning similar action as we speak. You can bet the BEA Board will be scrambling to contact Oracle in the near future www.newsvisual.com/new... Reply

BEA to Icahn: We'll Sell, But Not for $17/Share [view article]
If BEA had another interested party, then why haven't they made their interest known yet? This way, BEA could hope to start a bidding war between Oracle and Company X and hopefully come out way ahead. I don't think BEA has another interested buyer, and in a few days after Icahn's lawsuit (not to mention the law suits from angry investors) BEA will be running back to Oracle to ask them if the offer is still on the table www.newsvisual.com/new... BEA's Ball Rolls Into Icahn's Court [view article]
Why should a person like Carl Icahn have a say in this matter ? He is not even a investor but merely a trader who picked up shares of BEA recently. Now just because he wants an overnight return should this company be sold at any rate. Board of directors and other long term share holders who have been with this company for sometime should better judge this matter or decide the price. Reply

BEA Sets $21/Share Takeout Price, Oracle Rejects [view article]
I don't think I really see BEA's logic here. Yes, they were undervalued but the first offer of $17 per share was more than fair. $21 a share? No way. However, we should remember that Oracle did raise their bid for PeopleSoft, so a deal could still be done. I guess it just depends on how bad Oracle wants BEA. Probably using some of their backchannels to negotiate another deal right now www.newsvisual.com/new... Reply

Five Major Questions On Oracle’s BEA Buyout Bid [view article]
BEAS mgmt is being stubborn: they got more than enough and Uncle Ellison was generous this time around.

    Carl should be pleased.

COGN, TIBX are the next ones to go, but don't expect anything until after the holidays......

Analysts Give BEA Scant Hope For Alternative To Oracle Bid [view article]
There is no way BEAS get a better offer. BEAS mgmt is being stubborn: the stock was in the gutter for a while and they are lucky ORCL is buying them at a 25% premium.

Talking about BEAS now is spilt milk: it is time for us to now look at what else Carl may flip next.
