Friday, February 4, 2011, 8:11 AM Beckman Coulter (BEC) has received second-round takeover offers, including one from an alliance of Blackstone (BX) and TPG Capital and another consisting of Apollo Global Management and Carlyle Group. The medical diagnostics firm has a market valuation of at least $5B, which would make it one of the largest leveraged buyouts since the credit crisis. Comment!
Friday, January 28, 2011, 1:56 PM KKR drops out of a bidding group for Beckman Coulter (BEC -1%), leaving TPG Capital and Blackstone Group (BX) to come up with extra funding or find another investor, Bloomberg reports. KKR was said to be concerned that the price for Beckman might get too high amid interest by strategic bidders such as Danaher (DHR). Comment!
