- Wednesday, May 8, 2:46 PM Shares of direct marketer Blyth (BTH -15%) sink after earnings and revenue fall 65% and 14% Y/Y respectively during Q1. Net sales in the Health & Wellness segment (which was the company's largest contributor to total revenue) drop 24% Y/Y as "Promoter counts" fall markedly and operating profits for ViSalus (the former high-flying nutritional products business) decline to just $6.4M from $24.8M in Q1 2012. Based on this, the company lowers its FY13 EPS outlook to $1.30-$1.45 from previous guidance of $1.70-1.80. (PR) Comment!

- Sunday, January 13, 9:00 AM Forget Herbalife. ViSalus is maybe a more impressive legal pyramid scheme and its majority-owner Blyth (BTH) the best value in the MLM sector, writes Akram's Razor. In addition to the more obvious reasons, weighing on the stock has been Blyth's required purchase of the rest of ViSalus, which - with the IPO market closed - the company doesn't have the resources for. That issue looks to have been resolved, and investors should now focus on ViSalus' rocket-like growth and its owner's low valuation. 7 Comments [Healthcare, Quick Ideas]
- Wednesday, January 9, 4:36 PM News of the SEC's investigation into Herbalife (HLF) weighed on other multi-level marketers going into the close. Shares of skin care firm NuSkin (NUS -3.6%), Usana Health (USNA -1.9%) and Blyth (BTH -1%) all took a turn south after the announcement. HLF will present its case to investors at its meeting tomorrow in New York. (Tune in Tommorow via Webcast) 1 Comment [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 9:25 AM Blyth (BTH) +4.3% premarket after announcing that its ViSalus personal health business will pay a $22M dividend to its shareholders; BTH, as the majority shareholder, will receive 73% of the distribution. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]

Shares -2.7% AH. Comment! [Earnings, Consumer, On the Move]
- Friday, November 2, 2012, 3:51 PM Blyth (BTH -14%) gets hammered after saying Q3 ViSalus sales will come in around $169.9M. ViSalus, a BTH subsidiary, is the company behind the Body by Vi 90-Day Challenge. Comment! [On the Move]
- Monday, October 1, 2012, 4:58 PM Blyth (BTH) +12.5% AH after announcing it has reached a deal to defer the full purchase of its ViSalus subsidiary, in which Blythe owns a 73% stake, until April 2014, and that the purchase price will be based on ViSalus' 2013 EBITDA. In addition, Blyth has agreed to new 5-year contracts with ViSalus' CEO and CMO. Blyth was crushed last week after ViSalus withdrew its IPO. (earlier) Comment! [Consumer, On the Move, M&A]
