- Thursday, April 25, 1:28 PM Retail industry insiders are impressed with Cabela's (CAB) beyond just the rush of sales linked to the ongoing debate on gun control. Management has done a cracking job with execution and instilling brand loyalty - witnessed to a degree by the company boasting the highest percentage (95%) in retail of shoppers that use an in-store credit card for outside purchases. Cabela's shares are up 14.4% on the day and 54% YTD with bulls still maintaining the chain is nowhere near a point of saturation in the U.S. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]

Premarket gainers: MPG +23%. INFN +19%. AKAM +17%. FIO +16%. CLF +8%. YNDX +7%. NXST +7%. NOW +7%. CAB +6%. CAKE +6%.
Losers: XIDE -15%. WHX -14%. INTU -13%. ZNGA -9%. MLNX -8%. AVEO -7%. CTXS -7%. 1 Comment [On the Move] - Thursday, April 25, 8:11 AM More on Cabela's (CAB) Q1: The retailer puts in a powerhouse quarter as comparable store sales soar 24% and its direct to consumer channel picks up steam. The merchandise gross margin increased 110 bps y/y to 35.6% as consumer opted for products such as guns, ammunition, and footwear that padded profitability. Though the debate on gun control may have driven customers into the company's stores, the increase in active credit card accounts and online sales indicates they may keep coming back. CAB +4.1% premarket to $58.50. (PR) 1 Comment [Consumer, Earnings, On the Move]

[On the Move] - Monday, March 11, 1:21 PM The weak Q4 results from Dick's Sporting Goods are swaying sentiment on other sporting goods stocks. Decliners: Hibbett Sports (HIBB) -2.0%, Big Five Sporting Goods (BGFV) -0.5%, Cabelas (CAB) -0.7%. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Wednesday, January 16, 12:46 PM Sturm, Ruger (RGR +3.7%), Cabelas (CAB +5.6%), and Smith & Wesson (SWHC +2.6%) trade higher after President Obama signs 23 executive orders on gun control limits which come in addition to the laws the administration is pushing Congress to pass. While there is little question the companies will post stellar earnings in Q1, the debate focuses now on how long the demand rush will last or what will be the whipsaw action if the NRA helps blocks some of the pending legislation. 6 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]

Cabela's (CAB) will replace PETM in the S&P MidCap 400; Acorda Therapeutics (ACOR) will replace CAB in the S&P SmallCap 600. Comment! [Consumer, Energy, On the Move]
- Thursday, April 26, 2012, 8:46 AM Cabela's (CAB): Q1 EPS of $0.40 beats by $0.08. Revenue of $623.5M (+6.3% Y/Y) in-line. Shares +1.9% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, On the Move]
- Wednesday, September 21, 2011, 11:29 AM Cabela's (CAB -5.1%) falls after JPMorgan Chase downgrades shares to Underweight from Neutral. The company also took a PR hit this week after it misposted online a price for one of its products at $4.88 (instead of $210) - then compounded the error by revealing customers' e-mail addresses en masse in a reply to the debacle. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Wednesday, September 21, 2011, 10:41 AM Cabela's (CAB -4.4%) trades down after being cut by J.P. Morgan to underweight. The firm says sales in credit card unit, which has been the primary driver of EPS growth until now, appears to be flattening. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]

Michael Bryant: Maria sounds familiar. She the one who said something about (VVUS)? And stick with dividend stocks like TNH, RNF. -
Michael Bryant: Dividend stocks will be in demand as the crisis continues. Nothing like cash from the company. I am also watching HCI & SPF.
