    • Troubled retailer Cache (NASDAQ:CACH) may file for bankruptcy as soon as next week, according to a Bloomberg report.
    • CACH said in December that it was evaluating strategic alternatives and had received an inquiry regarding a potential sale.
    • The company would join Delia’s, Deb Stores and Wet Seal in seeking protection from creditors in recent weeks; all have suffered from slower mall foot traffic and competition from overseas competitors and e-commerce sites.
    • Shares -33% AH.

    • Cache (NASDAQ:CACH) reports comparable-store sales fell 8.8% in FQ2.
    • The retailer's gross profit rate plummeted 570 bps to 31.6%.
    • Due to poor traffic trends, Cache plans to close unproductive locations in a move that it expects to add $0.15 to EPS in 2015.
    • Investors seem to like the tightening, shares of Cache are up 45.5% AH to $1.79.

    • There's no sugar coating the awful string of sales reports turned in recently by teenager-focused retailers with today's release from Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF -19.5%) one of the worst of the lot.
    • Even retail bulls like Wells Fargo's Paul Lejuez are getting turned around by the high level of promotional activity in the sector. "Nobody is immune," notes the analyst.
    • Decliners: LTD -3.2%, CACH -1.1%, GPS -1.3%, BKE -1.4%, AEO -1.3%, TLYS -2%.

    Cache (CACH) files a shelf registration with the SEC to sell up to 4,848,484 shares of stock on behalf of selling shareholders. The company will not receive proceeds from the secondary sale. Shares -7.1% AH.

    Mall-based retailers are on watch after Express and American Eagle Outfitters delivered Q3 numbers and Q4 guidance solid enough to infuse confidence in traders. Aeropostale (ARO), +3.5% premarket, is an early riser in what could set up to be a retail rush.

    Cache (CACH -20%) takes a hit after saying it's taking a larger Q3 loss than it had previously expected, as its results were hurt by increased promotions and lackluster sales for its early fall offerings. The lifestyle sportswear retailer now expects Q3 sales of about $45.8M, below the Street consensus of $49.2M. Separately, the company also says it's launched a search for a new president and merchandising chief.

    Cache (CACH -10.4%) sinks after its Q4 meets expectations on revenue but misses on a per share basis. The company posted weaker-than-expected profit as promotional activity pressured margins. The company also warns on the current quarter, saying that lower sales for special-occasion apparel and some spring merchandise forced it to increase promotional activity, which will likely pressure Q1 margins.

    Cache (CACH) revises its Q4 guidance lower, saying it now sees EPS falling in a range of $0.16-$0.18 vs. $0.24 prior. The specialty retailer forecasts that comparable store sales increased 12% during the quarter. Shares -4.6% premarket.
