- Tuesday, June 11, 11:51 AM Chubb's (CB -0.2%) Vigilant unit will have to face a breach-of-contract lawsuit from Bear Stearns, says the NY Supreme Court. In 2006, Bear paid $250M to settle claims regarding mutual fund rules, and demanded Chubb indemnify it for $214M of that amount. Chubb refused, saying the payment was not an insured loss. Comment! [Financials]
- Thursday, June 6, 12:32 PM Chubb Corporation (CB) declares $0.44/share quarterly dividend, in line with previous. Forward yield 2.07 %. For shareholders of record June 21. Payable July 9.Ex-div date June 19. (PR) Comment! [Dividends]
- Friday, May 24, 7:46 AM Tornados striking the U.S. this week are expected to cause anywhere from $2B-$5B in insured losses, according to Eqecat, obviously with most of the damaged coming from the Moore, OK disaster. At the top end of the range, this week would rank as the 2nd worst ever, behind only the April 2011 tornados in Alabama. TRV, CB, ALL all dropped amid the tornado news early in the week and have held steady since. Comment! [Financials]
- Tuesday, May 21, 8:07 AM Keep an eye on property casualty insurers (TRV, ALL, CB, AIG) after all posted notable declines amid the Oklahoma City tornado disaster yesterday. The dip following Sandy proved a great buying opportunity (though from much lower levels). 2 Comments [Financials]
- Monday, April 29, 3:52 PM Chubb (CB) has its price target raised to $90 from $85 at MKM Partners, which continues to rate the stock a Hold. Noting Q1's earnings beat, MKM says the company is off to a good start this year, but its valuation is among the highest in the industry. Management noted success (CC transcript) at passing through "meaningful" rate hikes, enough, says MKM, to continue the trend of slow and steady margin expansion. Comment! [Financials]
