edward lord clarendon.hedge fund 13f filings with the SEC only report LONG holdings. so if they added, they added to their long. if they reduced, they sold off some of their long. they are not required to report short positions.
kind of common knowledge regardless though, that when funds in general talk about "holdings" they are referring to their longs. Reply

Having only discovered your site recently I must say I am more impressed with each new article such as Hedge Funds portfolio activity. Also noticing Tremblant's portfolio added to anad position tells me they feel as bullish as I on them but expect perhaps a sprd investment soon at these prices for an obvious solid long term play. Just because of some idiot from Oppenheimer, who probably doesn't have a clue other than to justify what he does for a living. It amazes me the power these so called experts have over the stock market. Especially if his family or friends own the stock, one quick way to short the day and make a nice little bundle. The stocks will go right back up the next day.Philipt13@aol.com

I like your post- and it was a great marketing tool to be able to include 50+ symbols- great syndication idea.Although I am very pessimistic of 'anonymous' authors- I must say I took a look at your blog and like it very much.
Yes- it is great to follow what the funds are investing in- the increase in Gafisa was interesting -but not suprised by tremblant or atticus taking big V stakes- and look like they picked up some MA on the correction.
Interesting posts- and great link setup.......

Regarding Huntsman (HUN), see article beneath 2008 chart here:www.crossprofit.com/vi...
As stated in article, no position was taken in this arbitrage. As the title suggests, there were just too many question marks popping up. Upon this last earnings miss, Apollo called a MAC yesterday effectively nullifying the acquisition agreement. There may NOT be a break-up fee though HUN has gone to court!
HUN should have negotiated a new price tag though the whole scenario is very problematic as certain shareholders already cashed out. This deal looks dead; funeral dance (courts) to follow.

Re "home rescue plans in limbo"... Why do we rush with billions of $$$ to aid countries outside the USA, and lollygag when it comes to helping the taxpayers that make the aid possible in the first place??? Is it one of those "follow the money" deals? ReplyEditors

Is this a buy or a sell? ReplyXO's Top Line May Grow Faster with Latest Network Upgrade [view article]
XO has its own national backbone in addition to million miles of metro fiber. That's where most of the CRS-1 are installed so in most cases, no transit is paid at all. Then, indeed, "they have numerous revenue-neutral peering agreements" in places. Apparently, with the newly added CRS-1, they increase the numbers of agreements to do more revenue-neutral peering.
XO is also increasingly working with international carriers that need terminating connections in the States.
XO, like the popular economical airline JetBlue, always make big killings when they see where they have end-to-end connection with unparellel advantage. Reply

WTF are you talking about? XO is not "Tier 1" (revenue neutral peering is not in place with every other Tier 1 carrier), but they have numerous revenue-neutral peering agreements. You must work for Verizon or something... (and no, I do not work for XO!) ReplyXO's Top Line May Grow Faster with Latest Network Upgrade [view article]
What you fail to realize here is that XO is not a Tier-1 and still needs to buy transit. So the number of CRS-1's they have deployed is irrelevant as they must still pass the traffic to the Tier-1's supporting the content XO's eyeballs want to view. Reply
