Around 12M people will buy $55B worth of health coverage in 2014 via the insurance exchanges being created as part of Obamacare, PWC predicts, adding that the figures could rise to 29M people and $205B respectively by 2021. Most of the money will be new, although some will come from other parts of the market, such as from people whose employers had paid for coverage until now.

Daniel Loeb may chastise Pres. Obama, says Andrew Ross Sorkin, but look at Loeb's recent investments: Aetna (AET), Cigna (CI), Humana (HUM), UnitedHealth (UNH) and WellPoint (WLP) stand to benefit if Obamacare remains in force, while a repeal could send shares diving. Like others, Sorkin reckons industry consolidation represents multi-billion dollar bets that the Health Act is here to stay.

Still, HealthNet (HNT) -10%, UnitedHealth (UNH) -5.6%, Coventry (CVH) -4.9%, Humana (HUM) -3%, Cigna (CI) -3.9% and Aetna (AET) -4.9%.

Deutsche Bank says the weakness in UnitedHealth (UNH -1%) and Cigna (CI -2.2%) following the Supreme Court opinion is "a particularly attractive opportunity," as the ruling is a positive for the sector, especially as it removes uncertainty. However, the verdict is "a modest negative for diversified MCOs," as major red states like Texas or Florida could say they're not going to participate in the Medicaid expansion.

More on the Supreme Court healthcare opinion: The court reinforces that individuals can simply refuse to comply with the mandate, and pay the tax. The Supreme Court's live blog is here.

More on the Supreme Court healthcare opinion: The bottom line: the entire ACA is upheld, with the exception that the federal government's power to terminate states' Medicaid funds is narrowly read. The Supreme Court's live blog is here.

Humana (HUM) and Aetna (AET) yesterday joined UnitedHealth (UNH) in saying that they would offer some Obamacare provisions regardless of whether the Supreme Court voids all or part of the Act, including free preventative care. However, WellPoint (WLP) and Cigna (CI) are holding back on any pledges until after the court rules. (previous)
