- Wednesday, May 30, 2012, 1:00 PM Ciena (CIEN -5.2%) slumps ahead of tomorrow morning's FQ2 report, even though Needham is starting coverage with a Buy and $16 PT. The firm notes Ciena has an 85% share of the nascent market for 100G optical transmission gear, and touts the company's order pipeline and improving margins. - Friday, May 18, 2012, 6:23 PM Optical networking equipment revenue fell 23% Q/Q in Q1, estimates Infonetics - a sharp decline even after accounting for seasonality. A 30%+ drop in EMEA sales overshadowed a small drop in North American sales. The firm is particularly worried about the fact EMEA sales of WDM gear fell more than sales of legacy gear. Due to soft carrier orders, the telecom equipment maker now expects Q1 revenue of $130M-$135M and EPS of $0.22-$0.25, well below a consensus of $174.7M and $0.44. - Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 9:23 AM Though broadband subscription growth is leveling off in many nations, online video demand (much of it for non-PC devices) should nonetheless drive a 12x increase in wireline and mobile broadband traffic between 2010 and 2015, says IDC.
