The FTC has issued orders requiring nine data brokerage companies to provide information on how they collect and use consumer data. The agency intends to use the information to study privacy practices in the data broker industry. The nine data brokers receiving orders are: Acxiom (ACXM), Corelogic (CLGX), Datalogix, eBureau, ID Analytics, Intelius, Peekyou, Rapleaf, and Recorded Future.

CoreLogic (CLGX +11.6%) shatters its 52-week high after the provider of mortgage and real estate information again beat expectations for its Q2 results, helped by a 28.5% jump in revenue from its mortgage origination services business fueled mostly by the impact of increased demand for credit and tax services.

Seeking to soothe restive shareholders, CoreLogic (CLGX) hires executive search firm Spencer Stuart to look for two additional independent directors for its board. But one of those disgruntled investors, Highfields Capital, seems unimpressed, saying CLGX needs an entirely new board.

Highfields Capital calls for new independent directors at CoreLogic (CLGX -1%) and says the company’s board has failed to meet promises on monitoring management’s progress on its latest operating plan. Last week, CLGX said it ended a strategic review process and wouldn't be selling itself.

Highfields, one of CoreLogic's (CLGX) largest shareholders, criticizes the data and analytics firm for ending its strategic review and says it's seeking a leadership change. Highfields described the move, announced yesterday with CoreLogic's Q4 results, as "troubling in light of the company's long history of financial and operational missteps."
