Thursday, March 14, 1:03 PM Con-Way (CNW +1.5%) shrugs off a valuation downgrade to Neutral at Goldman Sachs to trade higher, after Deutsche Bank added the shares to its Short-Term Buy List. Deutsche cites a number of catlysts for the upgrade, including a better housing market and improved manufacturing metrics. Longer-term they see earnings power of $4, which could push the stock to $60 based on a 15x P/E multiple - 68% upside form current levels. Comment! [On the Move]
Thursday, February 7, 10:28 AM Shares of Con-way (CNW +13.9%) rip higher despite posting a mixed Q4 result yesterday that matched revenue estimates but came up short on its EPS, as its bottom line was negatively impacted by tax items and skewed by a one time gain in the prior year period. Citigroup raises the shares to Buy on the report, saying that despite the overall weaker metrics, the company's freight profitability is nearing a turnaround, and it sees better pricing and volumes in H113. Revenue rose 9.7% Y/Y on strong demand in its less-than-truckload operations, and bottom line margins were helped by better overall cost controls.
