Coach Handbags Still Selling but for How Long? [view article]
The main reason for the decline in Coach sales is because the name ahs been soilded by the company moving all productions to China. While they are gainging significant profit margins with cheap labor and the materials do not cost that much they continue raise their prices. The American consumer is not that big a fool. How much does it cost Coach to make a bag in China that they are selling me for $450 ? I would hazard to guess its not very much. One does not consider massed produced Chinese goods "luxury". I believe Coach has lost substancial business because of this. Now I have just read an article that says they are now going to be making the bags in Vietnam ! While teenage girls may be dumb enough to continue to lust after these bags ( I have two by the way but refuse to buy anymore) the average adult woman has had enough of Coach. And is to blame-they have devalued their name. They may not want to face that fact but it true and not facing this fact will continue their decline. It used to be when you saw a gal with a nice Coach bag you though about what a good investment she made in a quality bag-now people are saying " you paid $500 bucks for bag made in China !" and they shake their head.

aapl broke $177 support and its a long way down. I don't think the stock will rebound till apple see some solid sales figures from the 3G iphone or a new apple product.Great strides taken in past year, but their superb iphone is merely replacing their ipod sales, 90% of products are overpriced and the rest of their products have at least one major flaw.. laptop(no enet port), AppleTV(read any review), desktops(lacking software support). you must subscribe to what i have been saying---$200.00 is a number to pass on our way to the real value ---are we there yet $300.00 ---last year with less accomplished in this debt free company everyone was looking at $250.00--never ---i say never under estamate the WIZZZARD JOBS--- having taken this country with his briliance-- he is embarking on the the rest of the world --my money and i mean 7 figures to the left of the decimal point is on him(aapl)--one and the same to me ReplySky Works - Cramer's Lightning Round (6/10/08) [view article]
If you sold apple on this advice, you'll be weeping soon enough. The company has a stunning product line, the best retail in the business, the coolest image... Don't listen to the anal-ists - they don't get apple.$200 is just around the corner, and 250 less than a short jog away. Reply

I suspect women who are encountering a tighter budget will still buy Coach bags. They just will be the lower priced ones, which is why their margins are shrinking.International sales should do well, especially in Japan as the dollar shrinks. Brazil and Asia should also contribute over time. Reply

In general, the demographic purchasing Coach bags is not likely to be the demographic most affected by food and fuel prices. Furthermore, Coach is absolutely a global player. I live in Copenhagen, Denmark, and with the strong Euro I can tell you that fashion is doing very well. Furthermore, the growing middle cass in China, India, and Brazil, would suggest Coach has excellent prospects.Reply

I should add, I own COH and am also short the Jan09 call against them. ReplyCoach Beats Expectations; Earnings Up 19% [view article]
It seems to me that the number of women purchasing handbags in the price range of Coach's handbags will be reduced as credit tightens and the purses can no longer be charged to credit cards. This coupled with the higher cost of gasoline and food would logically reduce the spending here. I thought this would have already happened, but it really has not. I am wondering what I am missing. I love you seeking alpha. I am up over 125% using your recommendations over the last 2 years. I am new to investing and don't have a lot of money. Nevertheless I did take my first $2,500 and make it $6,000. All because of you seeking alpha. If I keep up this rate of return I will have 81million by the time I am 65. Wish me luck ReplyIgnore Government Reports, Listen to J.C. Penney and DSW [view article]
Makes total sense. The US consumer has to pull back across the board. JCP may be losing share but the mosaic suggests slower consumer spending for sure. ReplyCoach Offers Compelling Value in Current Market Conditions [view article]
My 16 yr old daughter loves their stuff. She told me all her friends love their bags. Bit of a status symbol. Definitely 'gotta have' products for this age group. Reply
