End of Monster Buybacks? - Cramer's Stop Trading! (9/25/08) [view article]
GE is a joke. The stock has gone down the last 6-7 years under the worthless CEO Jeff Immelt. They are still doing business with Iran who help to kill our soldiers and their NBC division is a joke. It is the most corrupt news organization in the Country. It has officially become the democrats official news organization. Immelt has done nothing but run that company into the ground. The fact that this man is still running GE can only mean that he has somehow bought off the board. Because his performance would cost anyone else their job for sure!!!! Reply

Cramer's Comments: Help for Housing - KB Home
"KB Home is a "good company, obviously in a terrible industry," with a good balance sheet and a safe dividend,...

I respectfully disagree; KB Home is a terrible company, obviously in a terrible industry. KB was one of the first builders to target unqualified buyers and participate heavily in predatory lending, which contributed greatly to the massive real estate market meltdown. In fact, KB paid a token $3.2M fine to HUD for loan irregularities not long ago. KB should be given the recognition due as a key player in this national financial crisis. KB Home is a giant to be prosecuted, instead of trusted by investors.

I did some research on GE and it is truly a conglomerate. Buybacks make a very little difference unfortunately for GE. However under normal circumstances, EPS would go up.

Loss of Integrity - Cramer's Mad Money Recap (9/3/08) [view article]
..."bud i like you"....to quote an infamous movie...

it's clear you don't understand what diversification means because you're either a day trader or lack fundamental investing knowledge...not all sectors move in tandem....you don't have a crystal ball and you don't know when sectors will turn...great investors are always ahead of the curve and let their portfolios work for them instead of working for your portfolio as you do..."stick to the fundamentals.." my friend and don't play a guessing game or "market timing"....you're too caught up in the movie...get back to reality.......

"intentionally picking losers.." is nonsense talk.......

Did you say diversified or deworseified. Think about. Anytime you are attempting to diversified you are acknoldgeing you do not know which sector is strong or weak, so you keep selecting hoping to pick at least a few winners while you are intentionally including losers.

hey ray, i disagree with you especially on portfolio two..... they are not diversified as you think...VZ, BAC and ED are highly leveraged companies with their huge payouts and thus have tremendous exposure to rising rates if the dopey fed has anything to say about it.... the unpopular war and imminent troop pull out does not make GD attractive over the next two years....and as for GM...what can i say...the longer wagoner is there, the closer they are to bankruptcy....it's that simple...though not published yet inevitable, GM is third in line behind FNM and FRE for the government hand out.....
starting from scratch a novice investor should consider the following portfolio...JNJ (or PG), GE (or MMM), MO (or UN), XOM (or SLB) and IBM (or CSCO)....here's two portfolios...the best of the best...and of course...completely diversified!

Right, the taxpayers get stuck with the bad debt and the banks get only the good parts? This is socialism pure and simple. Write your congressman and senator. If they don't respond appropriately then vote the bums out. Remember this is an election year and don't forget to VOTE! Reply

screw the IRS and do the right thing to the IRS. Do what I and hundreds of thousands of other U.S. citizens are going to do this November 4th. Write-in Ron Paul for president. He is the only candidate for real change. end fiat currency devaluation, end the stupid and robber police force war on drugs, close the borders to illegal immigration, bring our troops home to protect us from our borders and not from some other countries borders. The politicians are going to get a huge wake up call this November when the incumbents wake up to find themselves voted out for years and years of self-serving and equally inept leadership. Do it for your children and do it because it is the rightthing to do. Don't believe me? Just Google Ron Paul and folow some links to see the huge following this man who thought he was dropped out of the race really has. The media and status quo are scared, an independent group of supporters arranged a rally being held at the same time in the same city as the Republican national convention. It is selling tickets like hot cakes and sold half the entire venue of 13,000 in two days. You can also see a running count of fellow Americans fed up and signing up to support him. That number is at 76,000. Just think of all the Americans who have not heard about this site and are still supporters of Ron Paul. Then you can understand the huge actual number of people who will write-in Ron Paul for President this November 4th. If you value the freedom you enjoy and want to keep it, do it. Reply

As per taxes, I think we all know the trick by now that you do this kind of investing on your tax-exempt accounts like your IRA or 401k, where all that paperwork on taxes doesn't matter. For your fun money it doesn't pay to do much of anything other than straight stock transactions (even certain ETF's contain some shocking paperwork tricks when you finally sell shares in a taxable account...) the gas & oil trusts, and shippers, do indeed provide excellent returns, especially for the income investor when compared to puny 3% CD rates. Be prepared however, to do a lot of paperwork at tax time. Shippers may have a return of capital, which is usually announced the day after you send in your tax return. Oil/gas trusts have depletion, costs, and basis calculations, K-1s maybe, or foreign tax recovery work maybe. The small or novice investor who does his own taxes may be in for a real surprise trying to figure it all out at tax prep time. Even the tax prep professionals sometimes get it wrong so you have to know your stuff. It's worth the effort, but it's a lot of effort. Reply
