- Wednesday, May 1, 4:38 PM Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD): Q1 EPS of -$0.10 misses by $0.02. Non-GAAP Revenue of $37.79M (+57% Y/Y) beats by $0.08M. Shares -1.8% AH. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Tech, On the Move]
- Tuesday, February 12, 4:23 PM Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD): Q4 EPS of -$0.06 in-line. Non-Gaap Revenue of $36.7M (+64% Y/Y) beats by $1.11M. Shares +1.1% AH. (PR) 1 Comment [Earnings, Breaking News, Tech, On the Move]
- Friday, January 18, 11:49 AM In addition to downgrading cloud ERP/CRM software vendor NetSuite, Goldman is changing its stance on two cloud HR plays: Ultimate Software (ULTI -2.1%) has been downgraded to Neutral, and Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +4.2%) upgraded to Buy. Though still positive on ULTI's long-term potential, Goldman isn't crazy about its valuation at current levels. The firm predicts Cornerstone's core business growth will accelerate, and (like Pac Crest) is positive on its Recruiting Cloud product. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]
- Wednesday, January 9, 2:46 PM Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +2.9%) has rallied following positive comments from Pac Crest. The firm thinks the cloud HR software vendor will post a strong Q4, and is benefiting from industry consolidation (I, II) and its Recruiting Cloud product (launched in March). Shares jumped in November following Cornerstone's Q3 report. Pac Crest is also positive on ExactTarget (ET +2.2%) going into its Q4 report. 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]
- Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 11:04 AM Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +10.6%) is rallying strongly post-earnings for the third time in a row. Though results were mixed, bookings rose 78% Y/Y to $42.7M, easily surpassing revenue growth of 54%, and the company's deferred revenue balance rose 20% Q/Q to $72.6M. 124 clients were added, raising the total to 1,100+. Cornerstone now expects 2012 revenue of $117M-$118M and EPS of -$0.31 to -$0.35 vs. a consensus of $116.9M and -$0.28. (transcript) Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]

After-hours top gainers, as of 5:15 p.m.: SNTA +19.8%. IQNT +18.7%. LPH +10.2%. TSPT +8.9%. CSOD +8.1%.
After-hours top losers: INFI -8.6%. SCLN -5.5%. EVER -4.4%. GME -4.1%. MWE -3.7%. Comment! [On the Move] - Monday, November 12, 2012, 4:07 PM Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD): Q3 EPS of -$0.07 misses by $0.01. Revenue of $588.5M (+54% Y/Y) beats by $7M. Shares +2.7% AH. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Tech, On the Move]
- Friday, August 31, 2012, 5:39 PM Saba Software (SABA +17.8%) closed with a huge gain on heavy volume. M&A speculation fueled by IBM's Monday deal to buy fellow cloud HR software firm Kenexa is almost certainly the reason. On Tuesday, B. Riley argued Saba could be sold at a hefty premium to a larger cloud player such as Salesforce.com or Workday, or an IT giant such as H-P or Dell. Peers Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +2%) and Ultimate Software (ULTI +1.1%) had more modest gains. (previous) Comment! [Tech, On the Move, M&A]
- Monday, August 27, 2012, 10:14 AM Not surprisingly, Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +7.5%) is rallying after IBM-Kenexa fuels new hopes that the company will be bought out by a larger enterprise software name. Also trading higher are peers Saba Software (SABA +10.6%) and Ultimate Software (ULTI +2.5%). 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move]
- Monday, August 27, 2012, 9:18 AM IBM is buying cloud HR software vendor Kenexa (KNXA) for $1.3B, or $46/share. The price represents a 42% premium to Kenexa's Friday close. The acquisition follows SAP and Oracle's purchases of peers SuccessFactors and Taleo, and comes as Workday, another big name in the space, prepares an IPO. Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD), a cloud HR name that hasn't found a buyer yet, could trade higher on the news. IBM expects the acquisition to close in Q4. (PR) 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move, M&A, Breaking News]
- Friday, August 10, 2012, 10:10 AM Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +15.7%) surges to new highs following its Q2 report. While results were only in-line, bookings jumped 31% Q/Q and 51% Y/Y to $31.5M, above revenue of $26.7M. Also, the cloud HR software vendor guided on its earnings call for 2012 revenue of $115.5M-$117.5M and EPS of -$0.26 to -$0.30 - the latter is in-line, but the former is above a $115.2M consensus. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Earnings]
- Wednesday, August 8, 2012, 1:33 PM Kenexa (KNXA +14.8%) surges after its Q2 results and guidance indicate strong margin improvement. While Q3 revenue guidance of $90M-$93.7M is largely below a $93.7M consensus, EPS guidance of $0.29-$0.32 is mostly above a $0.29 consensus. A similar story holds for full-year guidance. The Street seems willing to overlook the fact deferred revenue fell slightly Q/Q to $96.4M. Rival Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +2.4%) is also higher. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Friday, July 27, 2012, 2:17 PM Cloud ERP software vendor NetSuite (N +17.5%) soars to all-time highs after beating Q2 estimates, and guiding on its earnings call for 2012 revenue of $300M-$305M and EPS of $0.21-$0.22 (consensus is for $300.2M and $0.21). Deferred revenue rose 8% Q/Q and 38% Y/Y to $130M, and the company's average deal size rose 29% Y/Y to over $50K. Canaccord is reiterating a Hold due to NetSuite's steep valuation. CRM +6.4%. CSOD +4.1%. KNXA +5.9%. 1 Comment [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Friday, July 20, 2012, 1:05 PM Cloud software vendors Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +5.1%) and Constant Contact (CTCT +2.9%) trade higher after Credit Suisse initiates with Outperform ratings, as part of a broader coverage launch for the software sector. Also started at Outperform, but moving lower with the market: KNXA, CNQR, ULTI, RP, MKTG, JIVE. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Friday, July 13, 2012, 4:18 PM Ubiquiti Networks (UBNT +4.3%) and Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +5%) end the day with strong gains thanks to bullish coverage launches. The former received Buy rating and $18 PT from Capstone, while the latter was given a Buy and $28 PT from ThinkEquity. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Tuesday, May 15, 2012, 12:48 PM Off initially after reporting an in-line Q1, Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD +9.2%) is now shooting higher, no doubt thanks to its earnings call guidance. The cloud HR software firm expects Q2 revenue of $26M-$26.5M and 2012 revenue of $114.5M-$116.5M; the former is in-line, but the latter is above a consensus of $113.6M. In addition, Cornerstone's Q1 bookings grew 67% Y/Y to $24M - that's an acceleration from Q4's 58% growth. 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move, Earnings]

What's the best way to play SaaS growth? Buy stocks like $CSOD & $WDAY, or short $SAP& $ORCL? - View all 12 replies
-
Modernist: Its not 1:1! SaaS is a push towards efficiency. Net earnings of sellers will be reduced. -
Jorge Aura: In my humble opinion, I think that playing short in $ORCL is a good idea, but the stock has a short % of float in 0.80%.
