- Tuesday, June 11, 5:01 PM Cenovus Energy (CVE) agrees to sell its Shaunavon tight oil asset in Saskatchewan to Surge Energy (ZPTAF.PK) for $240M. Shaunavon consists of 54 sections of land and produces ~3,600 bbl/day of oil. CVE says its Bakken Shale asset remains on the market. 2 Comments [Energy]
- Thursday, April 25, 10:56 AM Cenovus Energy (CVE +2.4%) CEO Brian Ferguson says Canada’s second-largest oil producer plans to step up shipments to refineries on the Gulf of Mexico regardless of whether the U.S. approves the Keystone pipeline. CVE expects to export 150K bbl/day to the Gulf mostly through Keystone and two other pipelines, is increasing the use of rail, and is even mulling tanker shipments. Comment! [Energy, On the Move]
- Wednesday, April 24, 3:46 PM Cenovus Energy (CVE +2%) says the sale of some of its Saskatchewan oil properties put on the block earlier this year has been delayed by a "down draft" in Canada's capital markets. CVE, whose Q1 operating profit beat estimates with a 15% rise, says the smaller companies most likely to buy the assets are finding it difficult to find money to finance the purchase. Comment! [Energy, On the Move]
- Wednesday, April 24, 8:07 AM More on Cenovus' (CVE) Q1 results: Cash flow was $971M, up 7% Y/Y mainly due to strength in its refining business. Combined oil sands production at Foster Creek and Christina Lake averaged more than 100K bbl/day, up 22% Y/Y. Conventional oil production, including Pelican Lake, averaged nearly 80K bbl/day, up 7%. 2 Comments [Energy, Earnings]
- Wednesday, April 24, 6:03 AM Cenovus Energy (CVE): Q1 EPS of $0.23 misses by $0.23. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Energy]

- Thursday, February 14, 3:31 PM Cenovus Energy (CVE -2.4%) will make a strong show of support for TransCanada's (TRP) plan to ship oil sands-derived crude to eastern Canada in a converted natural gas pipeline when bids for capacity are called, VP Don Swystun says on a conference call after Q4 earnings, "so we will be having a significant participation when that line goes to open season." 8 Comments [Energy, On the Move]

- Thursday, February 7, 3:23 PM Barclays analysts downplay the impact of the safety notice on offshore drillers ordering inspection of subsea equipment on some Gulf of Mexico drilling rigs for faulty bolts. "While this event poses additional downtime risk for these drillers, we believe the downtime would be limited and can be often mitigated through the course of normal operations," the firm says. 7 Comments [Energy]
- Wednesday, February 6, 3:17 PM Shares of oil and gas drillers slide to session lows following a Bloomberg report that drilling regulators had directed offshore operators to halt work on some oil and gas wells in the Gulf of Mexico after discovering faulty bolts on equipment used to prevent blowouts. Replacing all bolts on blowout preventers could cost millions, Rowan (RDC) CEO Matt Ralls says. 12 Comments [Energy]
- Friday, January 25, 10:59 AM If the Keystone pipeline is approved, analysts are more interested in Canadian oil producers and refiners along the Gulf of Mexico that can process the heavy stuff flowing south than in TransCanada (TRP) and rival pipeline operator Enbridge (ENB), whose gains are priced in. RBC likes SU, CNQ, BTE and MEGEF.PK, while Edward Jones prefers CVE, IMO, XOM, PSX and VLO along with SU. 13 Comments [Energy, Quick Ideas]
- Thursday, January 24, 3:59 PM Cenovus Energy (CVE +1.5%) CEO Brian Ferguson says it has refining capacity, supply arrangements and hedging contracts in place to deal with 90% of its exposure to deeply discounted Canadian heavy crude oil prices this year. CVE and JV partner Phillips 66 also are working on ways to "debottleneck" the 362K bbl/day Wood River refinery to increase its capacity to process heavy crude by 5%-10%. Comment! (MEGEF.PK) (CVE) (AOSDF.PK) (KEYUF.PK) (CSCTF.PK) (ENB) (TRP) Oil sands output to triple by 2035 to 5.1 mbpd http://bit.ly/AaK9U7 - View all 3 replies

Seraphim Blentzas: 3.4 mbpd more presents more opportunities because there are the producers, midstream (keyera) and pipeline companies. 1.7mbd of that by 2020 -
Seraphim Blentzas: don't forget about North Dakota shale which could boost US shale production to 2.3 mbpd by 2016 http://bit.ly/zXQOw8
