Sean Rakhimov: 3-Digit Silver Ahead [view article]
How/why is Butler so wrong? I ask honestly, not argumentively. He's talking about short-term manipulations, isn't he? Do any of his views have any basic conflicts with this long-term assessment? Seems to me that long-term he's making the same argument. Please correct me where I'm wrong. ReplySean Rakhimov: 3-Digit Silver Ahead [view article]
Nice overall analysis. I for one am quite pleased to see an article that makes no reference to the insane, baseless, speculative, and already discredited conspiracy rantings of Ted Butler with his obsession re short positions. If shorts control silver, they have done a piss poor job of it. It tripled in a few short years. It will triple again. ReplySean Rakhimov: 3-Digit Silver Ahead [view article]
How can Ted Butler be so wrong about silver shorts? ReplySean Rakhimov: 3-Digit Silver Ahead [view article]
CDE and HL are both going to be the most profitable among the silver mining equities...HL actually has NO NET cost developing silver at one of its mine because of the other metals retrieved in the process. CDE is ridiculously priced..a true once in a lifetime opportunity..As for Ted Butler...while very knowledgable about his passion all this GATA/conspiracy is NEVER..as in a million years...going to amount to anything. No one cares. Reply

excellent. just excellent. I already own most of the mentioned cos. but the idea of nationalization was just written up by Bix Weir in a recent article to GATA. Just an outstanding article you presented here. A little more of the Ted Butler opinion on the shorts/FTDs would have been good and how bullion fits, but overall A+. Yes by all means allow the government's tax code to prevent you from protecting yourself from the government's debasement of your currency. Be a good boy and put your money in Dow stocks where the IB's and their government cronies want it. They are happy to sell you their shares as they know what is coming next.Anyway, buying the ETF's is a poor substitute for buying and holding the real thing. Buy a few thousand ounce Comex silver bars and bury them in your back yard. This is substantially less risky and more profitable than stocks, and will be for many years to come. If you don't want them to get dirty, then pay someone reputable for allocated (and ONLY allocated) storage. But please take physical deilvery. Reply

User 86999: "While I'm sure of the rightness of buying commodities, the associated taxation nightmare in the shape of K-1 being handed to the investors/traders at the end of the year with some phantom incomes (which may exceed the actual gains made, if any at all) is a serious drawback. Anyone interested in commodities, currencies, collectibles (like gold), needs to be aware of these taxation issues to fully understand the baggage associated."I would like to second your comment: I was caught comletely unaware of the K-1 complexities (associated with DGL, DBA, DBV, etc..) - not only did I have to pay for tax consultation fees to submit it correctly to the IRS but I ended up paying taxes for money that other people made!
Buyer beware. Reply

Enter your comment hereas the market continues to go down, agriculture, which used to be a safe haven, now looks like it may be subject to a downward trend. Here's a pretty good podcast that discusses what to during this down market and what's going on with coal, steel, bulk shipping, and agriculture.the main idea is that individual investors dont have to act like institutional investors and this market and may be better holding cash than trying to beat the market.

For sure on silver though not necessarily 15 to one--and they say the white metals lead the metals market. That is, silver, platinum, and palladium. Palladium has done okay, but is nowhere near where it "should" be given its unique properties and how the other metals have shot up. Palladium is mined mostly in Russia, but also by a couple of companies in North America. North American Palladium (I have a very few shares) and Stillwater (I don't have). There are a couple of platinum group metals juniors in North America--Pacific Northwest and Ursa Major. I hold a little of each. I also hold ANO, which is in South Africa and isn't producing yet, either--but has its own electrical generation equipment.Platinum is still going to go higher--even though the Japanese have a new catalytic converter, potentially--but just for diesel. Coming back to silver, which will rise a heck of a lot--that will be needed for the new Japanese converter. Silver has a lot of industrial uses but is also a monetary metal. BUY SILVER EAGLES, if you can find them. Reply

Soybean planting is rapidly increasing in South America. Uruguay has gone from 4,000 hectares to 400,000 in 5 years. Argentina can produce huge amounts, however current government policies (increasing export taxes) has farmers up in arms. At some point that will settle out and more product will hit the market. The U.S. will become a minor player in soy production very quickly. The story for sugar could be similar. High prices will lead to huge increases in hectares planted, leading to boom/bust scenario. Only silver of the 3 listed has long term positive factors in regards to supply/demand. ReplyNot all Metals are Created Equal (Part I) [view article]
I like the gold/oil ratio chart, this was quite good.I will be quite interested to see how the markets pan out going forward.
However I think Copper is actually getting ready for its next move up and is just testing dynamic breakout line.
I personally think that the dollar is going to get smashed so I expect a lot of commodities priced in dollars to go up.
