NTT DoCoMo (DCM), Japan's #1 mobile phone carrier, halts sales of BlackBerry Bold (RIMM), saying the phone can overheat while the battery is being recharged. RIM says the issue is specific to Japanese-sold Bolds.

NTT DoCoMo (DCM +2.5%) and South Korean firm KT Freetel are teaming up to develop a bargain-priced smartphone with advanced internet functionality using Google's (GOOG -3.2%) free mobile OS Android, which it will position as a strong competitor to the iPhone (AAPL +1.1%).

Japan's largest cell phone operator, NTT DoCoMo (DCM), is in talks to invest in Indian Tata Group's cellular-tower business. With a mature and competitive domestic market, DoCoMo has been looking to expand its overseas stakes.
