- Wednesday, February 23, 2011, 3:38 PM While stocks are broadly lower, beneath the surface the betting is against the budding economic recovery, Dave Kansas says, and the longer higher oil prices persist, the greater the economic damage. Among big cyclicals feeling pain: CAT -1.7%, DE -2.9%, UTX -0.9%, HON -1%, GE -2%, AA -0.7%, DD -1.2%, GT -1.5%. 1 Comment
- Friday, February 18, 2011, 9:57 AM DuPont (DD -0.4%) extends its $5.7B bid for Danisco (DNSCY.PK) from Feb. 22 until April 1 because it had yet to receive European and Chinese regulatory approval. The extension also gives investors more time to respond to DuPont’s tender offer at a price that some shareholders, including activist fund Elliott Associates, see as too low. (PR) Comment!
- Friday, February 11, 2011, 8:11 AM DuPont's (DD) offer for Danisco (DNSCY.PK) is $320M too low, hedge fund and shareholder Elliott Associates says, since it fails to account for the food-ingredient maker’s market leading position. DuPont agreed last month to pay $123/share for Danisco, equal to about $5.8B and 25% higher than the Danish company’s Jan. 7 closing price. DD -0.8% premarket. Comment!
- Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 6:16 AM DuPont (DD): FQ4 EPS of $0.50 beats by $0.18. Revenue of $7.4B (+15.3% Y/Y) beats by $0.45B. Raises FY'11 EPS guidance to $3.45-3.75 vs. $3.30-3.60 prior guidance and $3.11 consensus. (PR) Comment! [Earnings]

- Monday, January 10, 2011, 7:23 AM DuPont (DD) is buying Denmark's Danisco (DNSCY.PK), the world’s largest food-ingredients maker, for $5.8B plus the assumption of $500M of debt. The deal marks a 25.5% premium to Danisco's Friday close, and is DuPont's biggest acquisition in more than a decade as the company tries to diversify. Comment!
- Friday, November 26, 2010, 1:05 PM Market recap: Stocks slipped in a shortened session amid lingering worries over Europe's debt troubles and Korean tension. The Dow's losses outpaced other indexes, as DuPont and Alcoa fell as commodities retreated. Investors sought safety in the dollar and U.S. Treasurys, pulling out of riskier assets such as crude oil. NYSE decliners led advancers three to two in light trading. Comment!
- Tuesday, October 26, 2010, 6:23 AM DuPont (DD): Q3 EPS of $0.40 beats by $0.06. Revenue of $7B (+13.7%) vs. $6.7B. Shares +0.7% premarket. (PR) Comment!

- Friday, October 8, 2010, 7:40 AM Ahead of the G-7 meeting, Japanese FinMin Noda says last month's intervention in currency markets wasn't a sign Japan is prepared to conduct large-scale interventions to guide the yen to a specific level. On the other hand, he says Japan will take "firm measures, including intervention, when needed." Comment!
- Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 4:05 PM Market recap: Stocks finished mixed as a weak consumer confidence reading offset strong earnings from DuPont (DD +3.6%) and European banks. Consumer discretionary stocks, such as Office Depot (ODP -7%), and energy and materials were laggards. NYSE decliners led advancers by about four to three. Comment!
- Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 6:52 AM DuPont (DD): Q2 EPS of $1.17 beats by $0.24. Revenue of $8.61B (+25.6%) vs. $8.27B. Shares +3.3% premarket. (PR) Comment!
- Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 12:05 AM Notable earnings before Tuesday's open: ABC, AGCO, AKS, BP, CIT, CMI, DD, DRH, ECL, KSU, LLL, LMT, LVLT, LXK, NDAQ, ODP, OXY, RF, SAP, SVU, TEVA, TIN, TLAB, TLM, TMO, VLO, WU, X Comment!
- Monday, July 26, 2010, 9:54 AM Wall Street enters this week "on the cusp of a breakout," bulls say, but another spate of convincing earnings reports is needed from bellwethers such as Chevron (CVX), DuPont (DD) and Boeing (BA). Wells Fargo's Brian Jacobsen says the answer may lie somewhere between bullish and bearish: "This market is more like a turkey and not a bull or a bear." 1 Comment
- Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 9:54 AM DuPont (DD +0.1%) says the USDA approves its Plenish high oleic soybean for cultivation in the U.S. The soybean contains the highest oleic acid content of any soybean product and 20% less saturated fat than commodity soybean oil, "making it a more attractive ingredient for consumer food products," DuPont says. (PR) Comment!
- Friday, June 4, 2010, 10:11 AM Chemical companies are developing soybean, corn and cotton varieties tolerant of harsh older pesticides so that farmers can freely spray these on fields invaded by weeds that are growing immune to Monsanto's (MON) Roundup. It's a "very significant opportunity" for Dow Chemical (DOW), DuPont (DD), Bayer (BAYRY.PK), BASF (BASFY.PK) and Syngenta (SYT). 5 Comments
