- Friday, April 26, 4:24 PM D.R. Horton's (DHI +8.7%) strong day off its earlier Q1 report comes as no surprise to Wells Fargo's Adam Rudiger, who says the report follows on the heels of other strong reports from home builders earlier this week. Rudiger notes DHI's solid order growth and gross margin improvement mean the company is near to achieving a more "normal" operating margin, and reiterates an Outperform on the shares. 2 Comments [On the Move, Earnings]
- Friday, April 26, 7:27 AM It's another big report for the homebuilders as D.R. Horton (DHI) FQ2 earnings comfortably beat estimates. Pre-tax margin increased 550 bps to 9.9%. Management: 15.8K homes in inventory, 175K lots owned (or controlled), with 58K lots fully developed. Conference call at 10 ET. Shares +1.4% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, On the Move]

- Wednesday, April 24, 12:19 PM Meritage Homes (MTH +5.2%) moves higher today on a solid Q1 earnings beat this morning. The number of closed homes for the quarter jumped 17% as closing surged 39% and orders jumped 35%. What's really driving the stock right now is its forecast for FY13. The homebuilder's EPS forecast, based on a 40% increase in closings revenue the rest of the year, puts the midpoint of its profit estimate more than 15% above consensus views - which were already double that from 2012. It now expects to earn between $2.20 - 2.45, versus Street estimates of $2.04. Comment! [Earnings, On the Move]
- Tuesday, January 29, 7:21 AM More on D.R. Horton (DHI) FQ1 earnings: Net sales of 5,259 homes +39% Y/Y. Sales value was even stronger, rising 60% thanks to pricing power, geographic mix, and larger homes. Backlogs +62% to 7,317 homes. Shares +1.2% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, U.S. Economy]
- Tuesday, January 29, 7:08 AM DR Horton (DHI): FQ1 EPS of $0.2 beats by $0.06. Revenue of $1.23B beats by $1228.9M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News]

- Friday, July 27, 2012, 12:19 PM More on D.R. Horton's (DHI -2.4%) earnings call: Home building SG&A expense for the quarter, which includes corporate overhead, was $128M. This figure is up just a marginal 3% from the year-ago period - but on a 21% increase in home closures. As a percentage of home building revenues, SG&A was 13.6%, down 320 basis points Y/Y, reflecting both an improvement in the company's sales volume and solid cost controls. (Transcript) Comment! [Earnings]
- Friday, July 27, 2012, 12:01 PM D.R. Horton (DHI -3%) slides on a cautious outlook, even after reporting a solid FQ3. Net earnings soared as the home builder booked a reversal of a tax-asset write-down it took during the housing crisis, along with higher closings and a 25% uptick in new orders. The write-down reversal is encouraging - especially now with the stock running back in the black - as builders had been forced to write down the value of billions of dollars of potential offsets to future income taxes during the depths of the downturn.
