Tuesday, September 2: Week in Review [view article]
Analysts are trying to make sense out of a shark frenzied, irrational market. There are no patterns, only speculators trying to catch a peak or trough to make a quick buck. In this market what happened yesterday has little to do with today.

Time will prove that China made a bad move dumping out of the GSE's at the bottom. With commodities crashing and fund managers pulling out, the financials are the most attractive deal in town. Expect another Mid July financial correction to happen shortly.

The market will get better when oil prices are lower and when all the bankrupt builder's inventory is sold. Maybe in two or three years.

As of 5:30AM this morning, crude is down $8.76 to $106.79, effectively breaking it's uptrend. The USO will gap down a penetrate the 200-day MA and possibly recover to close slightly above the MA. Reply

When the RE market finally does "reach bottom", it isn't going to go right out and bounce back to the sky. The last bottom, in the early 90's, was pretty much flat for about 4 years, with only modest appreciation over a decade's time. Reply

PFE & GE would be my top picks from that group. I would not count on GM being a "yield" investment for quite some time due in part to the risks they face on many fronts. Chronic mismanagement vs. yield? I'll avoid that stocks as a value trap despite the upside many analysts and investors continue to see in that company Reply

Which Improves First - The Stock Market or the Economy? [view article]
the market always goes up before the economy thanks to the permabulls who continue to push up. the issues in this downturn have not been resolved yet and as each shoe falls, the permabulls are beaten back. i would like to see a correlations on reasons for the stock market recessions to the times to recovery. Very negative sentiment in the comments. I suspect we are on the edge of some sort of a splash up, just before a cascading plunge to dow 9755 give or take a few points. I too hate forecasting, but when you got, use it.

By the way, the dollar is strong only because the Euro is sinking, and so too most other currency units, but alas, that never lasts, so get gold.

I am encouraged to learn this sequence again; it is true historically, but you did not mention the "false" starts the prescience investors usually make. Sort of testing periodically with small amounts of money, then one day it works and the tide as turned. But you paid the ticket to ride in each false start. This gets old you know, or should I say, I know. Reply
