Correcting a myth - regarding GM and Toyota Motor (TM).Many believe that GM is no. 1 globally as recently published it outsold Toyota by 1000 or 3000 cars in 2007.
In reality, GM's revenue was $181B in 2007 (01/2007-12/2007) down considerably on YOY. Toyota's revenue was $252B in FY2007 (04/2007-03/2008) up nearly 10%.
It is high time the U.S. auto industry started dealing with the harsh reality before it is too late. Hype and spin can go just so far...

Author's evidence of prudence in moving a short term investment to long term is helpful. Also, the strong consumer franchises keep reporting good results. It is the weaker ones using the economy as an excuse or reason. A notable exception is Starbucks who got slammed by McDonalds introducing good coffee (which I drink now, as do many of my friends). We still love Starbucks, but they finally picked up a major competitor. They should work through it. ReplyNetratings

Perhaps, it's time for VMWare (VMW) to move out of it's wood shed and back onto the playing field. Gregory Ness outlines how the company offers its protection along with it's teammates such as Symantics, Mcafee & Checkpoint. Vmsafe initiative, a milestone, is making a difference. Institutions appear to be buying. Finally - we'll see it's return! ReplyInflation Is Hitting The Entertainment Dollar As Well [view article]
prices have gone up. But, by far, going out to a movie is still one of the least expensive forms of out-of-home entertainment available. compare a pair of movie tickets and some snacks and drinks to football, basketball, baseball (are you really taking your significant other out into $9 bleacher), broadway, comedy club or other form of entertainment. "Date night" is not going away in the long run and it is the quality of movie product is what drives attendance and revenue at theater exhibition companies like Regal (RGC) and Reading (RDI) in the short run. Novice question...whom releases those Short Interest numbers and where might I view them directly on a bi-monthly basis? Thanks Reply7 Earnings Previews: GOOG, ISRG, MA, ICE, VMW, AMZN, DLB [view article]
Har, HB are the flavor of the month and one of the best performers of the year so far some have gained 100%. crazy. The huge rate cut helps them tremendously. tough call up here but there are some really good technical setups. Reply7 Earnings Previews: GOOG, ISRG, MA, ICE, VMW, AMZN, DLB [view article]
oh bye the way, Great Call!! on VMW. i had a 1 to 1 strangle on them at 75 and 85. it's safe to say that was some of the easiest money i ever made.you just knew it was either gonna pop or drop a ton. i was thinking it was going to drop , so i should have leaned on the puts, but who cares? haha.
