Saturday, February 25, 2012, 10:15 AM Cloud software companies are being acquired left and right (I, II, III, IV), but most of these deals will be failures for the acquirers, says industry exec Flip Filipowski. The acquired companies sport agile, dynamic cultures whose best talent won't stick around post-merger, rather than deal with the bureaucracy of a larger firm. Thursday, December 15, 2011, 10:12 AM IBM makes yet another analytics-related acquisition (previously), snapping up software vendor Emptoris for an undisclosed sum. Thursday, December 8, 2011, 9:59 AM Unlike SAP/SuccessFactors, IBM's (IBM -0.3%) purchase of DemandTec (DMAN +55.4%) isn't providing a lift to most cloud software names - perhaps partly due to the relative narrow focus of DemandTec's solutions. However, rival SPS Commerce (SPSC +1.4%) is up slightly. IBM's acquisition is the latest in a string of analytics-related buys; other targets include Cognos, Netezza, Platform Computing, i2, Algorithmics, Q1 Labs, and OpenPages. Comment! Friday, October 7, 2011, 9:09 AM In spite of security concerns, a Symantec (SYMC) survey finds enterprise cloud adoption is gaining momentum. 19% of respondents said they had adopted public cloud software platforms such as those from CRM and N, and 17% said they had adopted internal (private) cloud solutions.
