Dendreon (DNDN) completes its regulatory submission for closely-watched experimental prostate cancer vaccine Provenge. If approved, Provenge would be the first therapeutic cancer vaccine. Company expects response by mid-2010. Shares +5% premarket.

FDA issues draft guidance for cancer vaccines that indicates it will consider therapies that extend survival, even if they don't delay progression. Dendreon (DNDN) +1.9% early on; this is the first acknowledgment of DNDN's regulatory approach for Provenge.

Dendreon (DNDN) is up 9% today to $21.03, despite last week's secondary offering, which priced at $19.20. One reason: table-pounding comments by bullish analysts.

Not long ago, boutique firm Brean Murray was a Dendreon (DNDN) bear, with a Sell rating on the stock going into the Apr. 14 preliminary IMPACT trial data. Following that, firm went Neutral, and today it upgrades shares to Buy with an aggressive $35 target. DNDN +135% premarket to $27.71.

Dendreon (DNDN) says Provenge extended median survival of advanced prostate cancer patients by 4.1 months (25.8 vs. 21.7). It also improved 3-year survival by 38% (31.7% vs. 23%). Earlier on CNBC, a guest from Biotech Stock Research said that an added survival number of three months would be great, and anything over four months would be a homerun. Shares are likely to remain halted until after the conference call at 5:30 ET. (earlier)

Not clear whether the sudden plunge in Dendreon (DNDN) was due to leaked results of this afternoon's presentation of data on prostate cancer drug, Provenge, or just the jitters. But what a plunge. Shares are now halted. Meeting is slated for 3:20.

Dendreon (DNDN) reopens (it was halted until 9:00) +235% to $24.35, after revealing its much-discussed Provenge prostate cancer treatment met its primary endpoint (prolonged survival) in a Phase III trial.
