Talisman Energy (TLM +1.6%) and Petro Vietnam are expected to start commercial oil production from Hai Su Trang field offshore Vietnam next week, the state-owned Vietnamese company says. TLM holds a 60% stake in the field, which currently produces 15K bbl/day. Meanwhile, Eni (E) secures a rig to drill a prospect off the country's coast.

Anadarko (APC +3.2%) says it will sell a 12.75% interest in the Heidelberg deepwater oil project in the Gulf of Mexico to an undisclosed party for $860M to ensure funding until production starts in 2016. APC will continue to operate the project with a 31.5% interest; XOM, APA, E and STO own the remaining stake in the field, estimated to hold up to 400M barrels of recoverable resources.

Italian prosecutors place Eni (E -5%) CEO Paolo Scaroni under investigation as part of a probe into possible corruption of Algerian officials by Eni-controlled oil-service company Sapiem. A source tells WSJ that prosecutors are looking into whether Saipem officials gave kickbacks to procure contracts in Algeria.

Eni (E -3%) shares are hit after revised guidance from subsidiary Saipem (SAPMY.PK) affecting 2012 and 2013 results. For FY 2012, EBIT is forecast to come in ~6% lower than expected, at ~€1.5B and net income at ~€900M; for FY 2013, EBIT is forecast to drop ~80% Y/Y. Earlier, Reuters reported Eni is in talks with Iraq to cut its production target at the Zubair oilfield.

Eni (E +1.6%) CEO Paolo Scaroni says he is less enthusiastic now about the Italian oil and gas company's operations in Iraq than when it first entered the country after the end of Saddam Hussein's regime, but he rules out leaving Iraq to move to Kurdistan. Eni has invested $4B-$5B so far in its Iraqi activities out of a planned $18B.

Eni (E -1.8%) says an adverse arbitration decision in a natural gas dispute with GasTerra will reduce its Q3 earnings by €604M ($785M). The ruling will allow Eni to claim a price reduction for the gas volumes purchased in the period subsequent to that settled by the decision.

Russia's Rosneft signs an agreement with Italy's Eni (E -4%) to finance exploration at two offshore fields in the Arctic and one in the Black Sea, advancing a cooperation deal signed in April. Eni's investment will be returned from the project's cash flows once production is launched. Rosneft recently has signed a number of deals with foreign firms, including XOM and STO.

Eni (E) -1.7% premarket after shareholders approve scrapping the Italian oil and gas company's treasury shares as part of a share buyback program. Also, the company says it expects to make a final decision in late 2012 or early 2013 on the South Stream natural gas pipeline project envisioned to carry up to 63B/year cubic meters of Russian gas under the Black Sea to Europe.

Weatherford (WFT +2.9%) wins an $843M crucial oil field facilities contract from a group led by Eni (E) that will boost oil production from Iraq's Zubair oil field to 554K bbl/day from the current 254K bbl/day, a government spokesman says. Schlumberger (SLB) and an Italian JV had competed for the contract to build the facilities in Basra in southern Iraq.

Italy's Eni (E -3.1%) agrees to sell its controlling stake in Italian natural gas grid Snam to lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, in a €3.52B ($4.4B) deal allowing the oil giant to free funds to finance its E&P expansion program. CDP will pay for the purchase by selling a 3% stake in Eni, worth ~€2B, on the market.

A Total (TOT -6.3%) senior manager says the firm is looking at two main options to try to stop the North Sea gas leak at its abandoned Elgin platform: drilling a relief well, which could take six months, or the faster but riskier alternative of sending in engineers to "kill" the leak. TOT owns ~36% and Italy's ENI (E -2%) has 22% of Elgin, which accounts for 3% of U.K. natural gas output and 5.5% of oil production.

Camac Energy (CAK +15.9%) jumps after saying it plans to buy three offshore exploration licenses in western Africa and its partner, an Eni SpA (E +0.3%) unit, will sell its 40% stake in a Nigerian project to Allied Energy.
