Emerson Electric (EMR) CEO David Farr says - pointedly - he will keep focusing on growth overseas: "Washington is doing everything in their manpower, capability, to destroy U.S. manufacturing." The company has eliminated more than 20,000 jobs this year. "What do you think I am going to do? I’m not going to hire anybody in the United States. I’m moving."

Emerson Electric (EMR) to acquire Avocent (AVCT) for $1.3 in cash, or $25/share - a 22% premium to Monday's close (PR). Emerson - a maker of industrial-automation equipment, power systems and heating and cooling gear - will apply Avocent's infrastructure management technology to its network of power systems, energy management and precision cooling services to boost energy efficiency. EMR +0.2%. AVCT +20.7%.
