Hasbro Kills Scrabulous: Good or Bad? [view article]
The reason you wouldn't compensate them for their ingenuity is pretty much what you said...they infringed on copyrighted material. Also, just because they were not charging people for their application doesn't mean they were not making money off of it. From my understanding, advertisers pay a good amount of change to be able to advertise on high traffic facebook applications. My belief is that if you are making money off of someone else's copyrighted material, you should pay the price. ReplyIs Microsoft Interested in Take Two? [view article]
Interesting article I think you may be on to something. I had wondered if Nintendo might grab take two for similar reasons imagine if Nintendo decided to introduce a high end console to graduate their base too. What better title than GTA to launch a hardcore gamer system. I don't know if Nintendo would have the cash to buy TAKE TWO but imagine the power of a merger. Nintendo knows that Sony is in big trouble if they came out with a high end console that utilized easier programming but could market it as a japanese company in japan they may knock Sony out in Japan and give microsoft a run for its money here in the USA. Also Nintendo could easily port their wii mote and nunchuck into a higher end machine.I know thats just speculation and I too am looking for bidders for Take Two but its fun to dream isnt it! Reply
Will Take Two Finally Accept Electronic Arts' Current Bid? [view article]
Per Forbes or Fortune about 2-3 weeks ago, UBISoft and TTWO are entertaining a merger. UBISoft is out of Paris and makes such games as Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia and owns permanently the Tom Clancy name for videogames. they cannot buy them outright, but they can merge. The sticking point is that EA owns a minority interest in UBISoft.I think this would be a better fit than EA. As a gamer, I hope to god they don't get TTWO...EA's track record of great games recently is less than stellar, at best. Reply

I think gaming piracy is underestimated. Requiring and selling peripherals with a game is a great way to reduce piracy. That certainly helps sales. ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]

Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
"Slack in factory utilization can be a signal of building inflationary pressures." ? I would expect that lower utilization rates for labor or industrial capacity would reduce inflationary pressure. Unfortunately, our current inflationary pressure comes from the weakness of the dollar (due to our consuming more than we produce as a country), and from commodities, given growth in Asia. Thanks Paul. Fixed. ReplyTake Four: EA's Bid for Take Two Delayed Again [view article]
This battle makes no sense. EA must think it has a chance to be successful. The question is why. Take-two is doing well with GTA. So why should its shareholders take EA's offer? Head scratching. ReplyRodrigues

I think the Hardcore market has been satisfied by the XBOX 360 and both the PS3 and XBOX 360 have seen sales drop due to this market saturation point being met. Now both consoles will see some sales from owners of the "other" system deciding to buy both. Ultimately I think that hardcore gamers already have one system or the other and some of course have both. How many untapped gamers are left on the sidelines? The PS2 sold 100 million units but I think its safe to say that most of those consumers were not "hardcore" and therefore are happy with the Wii and/or a hand-held alternative to expensive hardcore multimedia machines.Do GTA4, Gears 2, and others have something unique to bring more consumers in to the market? Well, no not really. Since all we are seeing this year is a healthy menu of Sequels....not much unique in a sequel that wouldn't have already given a consumer the motivation to but expensive hardware.

I don't like WII that much. I like traditional games more. Nintendo has come up with new technology but they are still far away from creating exiting games like GTA. ReplyTake Two's White Knight, Ubisoft, Rides In [view article]
I fully agree with Bruce. I think this is beneficial for both TTWO and UBISoft, as well as the industry. And it would put pressure on both EA and ATVI, from a consumer standpoint, as suddenly the two ring circus has a third (not counting the omni-present Nintendo, of course)As a TTWO stockholder and a gamer, I hope these two can find a way merge.
