To "The World's Worst S.P." It wouldn't be happening ("the socialization of America") if the unbridled abuses of laissez-faire capitalisim hadn't reared their Medusa's hissing head first. It's a matter of necessary checks and balances. (I like your moniker: "the World's Worst S.P."--we're pretty much all of us keeping you company that way. Good luck to you!)Reply

The socialization of America spreads its wings. Next will be the lines for toilet paper and bread. ReplyHealthcare Stocks: Due For a Selloff? [view article]
I don't even think you know what Express Scripts does. You talk of health care costs in general, but they deal with prescriptions. Both ESRX and MHS are working to bring the cost of drugs down, and they're getting better profit margins on generics. It's one of the few safe havens in a market like this. ReplyHealthcare Stocks: Due For a Selloff? [view article]
When the inevitable recession happens and the companying stock aversion - all stocks will fall - HC may not fall as much as others - it is popularly believed to be a defensive sector. In any case - Sell Sell is the mantra in the current times.

user155010.. and other folks who think Jim Rodgers is great? He has called for Frannie & Freddy to fail-uh should fail.., complaining that everyone has committed theft, fraud, etc. When ask by the interviewer if he was short these stocks he said of course. He stated yes he was making money being short but who cared if he was making money?? After all he said, "I have to pay taxes on it".. right!!
He spends his TV time bad mouthing the stocks so he can make his money short..a nice ethical guy.

Eli keeps getting better. Between the headline news, the overnight foreign markets, the earnings reports, and the day's economic calendar, what more material could a reader want? One hopes that Eli doesn't get dragged into the trap of doing a lot of analysis. ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]

I like CBK - great balance sheet and they are diversifying to more than their clothes for dowdy midwestern women. ReplyRetail Plays For Bad Times [view article]
Payday loan shops? Working in a law firm, I can tell you that they are usually the final kick that leads to coming up with the money to pay for a bankruptcy. I've seen these guys listed again and again. The agents that call they law firm just yawn and say "When is the filing going through so I can wrap up this file and get it off my desk?" Yesterday we heard that things are going to get worse before they get better. These are the very people who will NOT have the money to pay for long as prices climb. However, I agree with you about Costco. Would hesitate a looong time before buying Gap, Abercrombie. I'm suspicious of the direction of malls in general. We seem to be moving away from that model.
The Buckle sounds too much like Kohl's, Goody's which are struggling.
Really liked the idea of BARE.

ANF may be the only retailer that holds up. They still have lines to get into their stores in some cities. ReplyWal-Mart's Expands $4 Drug List, Puts Pressure on Drug Store Chains [view article]
Today CVS Told me they no longer will be matching Walmart's $4 price.. Do they think they no longer have to compete in the local market? Walmart is maybe 5 miles further down the road.. CVS's price.. for generic synthyroid.. 30 days, 9.85.. vs $4 for walmart or anywhere that matches their price.. lets see.. even if my car got 10 miles to the gallon the $5.85 difference still buys more than a gallon of gas so I'd save money transferring my family's prescriptions elsewhere.. Get a clue CVS.. compete, or go the way of the dinosaur.. Reply
