Bank of Canada keeps its overnight rate target at 0.25%, and repeats its conditional commitment to keep it there until the end of Q2 2010. Canada reports a surprising net job gains of 30,600 in Sept., compared with the consensus forecast of a 5,000 increase. The jobless rate fell to 8.4%, down for the first time since July 2008. (ETF: EWC)

Canada's (ETF: EWC) economy manages to grow a better-than-expected 1.3% in Q3. For now, it's one of the few major economies that's managed to sidestep recession.
