I'd like to see the exchange rate adjusted returns as well. And to note also that Brazil was pretty much starting in the sub-basement to generate such returns. ReplyTotal Returns by Country Since March 2003 [view article]
Bespoke needs to go over to Gannett and hire an out-of-work copy editor to edit its copy. This is poorly written. What's being compared to what here? If the "MSCI World Index Local Currency" index is up 68%, how come the 22 listed components are up far more than 68% on a "total return" basis? Isn't this perhaps a story on currency inflation?
Fill in the gap in the logic here, I am not a mind reader. Reply

Interesting. Good stuff. How much of this is due to the currency exchange rates/weak dollar? ReplyTotal Returns by Country Since March 2003 [view article]

Thanks for posting. I was also surprised by China performance. No one would say that it is as much as US. ReplyHard Times in Hong Kong? [view article]
BigMouse ; Seems as though your history comes from the Han Chinese perspective and faith to the ' mother land '.It seems as though China thinks that wherever there is a Han Chinese it belongs to the ' mother land' .
China liberates . Right? Then all must follow the Han line of thinking .
San Francisco could be a future liberation candidate as the Han claim an Admiral Ho sailed into San Francisco Bay in the year 1000 A.D. . Priority claims . Reply

Mr. Carl T. Delfeld:I'd like to give you the Tibet history lesson for free.
Tibet was independent, ---- but only before A. D. 1244.
In A.D. 1244, Tibet surrendered themselves to Genghis Khan's son and Yuan Dynasty.
Throughout Yuan Dynasty, Ming Dynasty, Tsing Dynasty, Republic of China, and People's Republic of China,
The Tibet area belongs to China.
The only thing, which implied that Tibet was relatively independent,
was that Tibet maintained the slavery system until the Republic of China period. When the communist party wanted to abolish the slavery, nobles rebelled. Similar to the situation of the American Civil War.

Advocates of democracy? Where are they before 1997, when there was no election in Hong Kong at all. ---- Then it is easy to understand who is their sponsor. Hong Kong people need real democracy advocates on behalf Hong Kong citizens, but not Washington. If you want to comment polictics, please turn to another forum.
But before doing that, I suggests you read the Hong Kong history first.
Have you ever commented the democracy situation in Hong Kong before 1997? Reply

Down as with rest of the world, HSI is more representative of Chinese stocks.Elections and democracy - not really required since HK is on life line from the China. Better not offend the life giver. Just need a system to keep local government in check. Reply

China is not a Dragon or a Panda. It is 100% a Tiger in every possible respect.
In terms of energy security, China will go to any length even partnering up with their main competitor the USA.
China had a special secret deal with USA to back their activites going into Iraq in return for oil. In return they proved very useful especially in using its influence with Pakistan.
