The Swiss National Bank discontinues its program to buy corporate bonds, joining other countries in starting to withdraw emergency measures. While the Swiss economy returned to growth in the third quarter, the SNB is in no rush to the exit door, saying that a "swift correction in monetary policy would be precipitate" as deflation risks remain. Switzerland's central bank slashes its benchmark interest rate by an unprecedented 100 BPs to 0.5-1.5% (.pdf). "International economic conditions have worsened appreciably, bringing a higher risk of a marked slowdown in economic activity in Switzerland next year," SNB says. (ETFs: EWL, FXF)
