F vs. ETF Alternatives
Company Description
Ford Motor Company (referred to herein as "Ford", the "Company", "we", "our" or "us") was incorporated in Delaware in 1919. We acquired the business of a Michigan company, also known as Ford Motor Company, that had been incorporated in 1903 to produce and sell automobiles designed and... More

- Monday, April 29, 8:42 AM The luxury automobile market in China could take a minor hit with a new regulation banning military license plates from high-end sellers including Lincoln (F), Cadillac (GM), Mercedes-Benz (DDAIF.PK), and Porsche ((POAHY.PK). Though official numbers are hard to come by, the practice of high-ranking officers driving luxury vehicles is common. 6 Comments [Consumer, Global & FX]
- Friday, April 26, 8:24 AM Automobile sales in western China are expanding twice as fast as in the nation's wealthier coastal cities, according to China-based auto analysts. The development plays well into Ford's (F) strategy after the automaker invested to set up plants in the region capable of producing more than one million vehicles a year. 2 Comments [Consumer]
- Thursday, April 25, 8:38 AM The U.S. government will buy up to 10K hybrids to help trim fuel costs for the fleet of government cars. The marching orders come from the GSA which estimates savings of close to 1M gallons of fuel over the lifetime of the vehicles. The agency didn't say which manufacturer it will buy the vehicles from, although presumably General Motors (GM) and Ford (F) will receive some home field advantage. 15 Comments [Consumer, U.S. Economy]
- Wednesday, April 24, 1:43 PM The latest batch of forecasts for auto sales indicates the SAAR will rise 5.3% to 15.3M. Though the pace of unit growth is considerably slower than the last three years, the sector has become less promotional as witnessed by the decent 3.1% rise in average transaction price in spite of the shift to less expensive automobiles. What to watch: A drop in vehicle inventory levels during April would be a good sign that the demand trend is still in place as the spring/summer selling season heats up and manufacturers haven't overshot with production. 1 Comment [Consumer]
- Wednesday, April 24, 8:23 AM A decline in Ford's (F) operating margin in North America during Q1 isn't a major worry to automobile industry watchers. The automaker is adding workers to keep up with increasing demand while the shift to smaller cars and SUVs is also bound to take a slight swipe at profits. Instead of being in a mode of cost-cutting, Ford is planning on positioning for future profits with automobile demand on the continent expected to continue to rise. F +1.1% premarket. (Previous on earnings: I, II) Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Wednesday, April 24, 7:22 AM More on Ford's (F) Q1: The automaker beats profit as results in North America and Asia offset weakness in Europe and South America. Operating margin in South America took a significant blow from the devaluation of the currency in Venezuela while higher pension costs impacted Europe. Ford reiterates its forecast for strong sales and double-digit operating margin in North America. Shares of Ford +1.4% premarket to $13.55. (PR) Comment! [Consumer, Earnings, On the Move]
- Wednesday, April 24, 7:01 AM Ford Motor (F): Q1 EPS of $0.41 beats by $0.04. Revenue of $35.8B beats by $2.03B. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Consumer]

- Monday, April 22, 2:19 PM The fight for China: The Shanghai Automobile Show isn't lacking for new models with close to 1.3K vehicles being showcased in the nation which has become the world's largest automobile market. Gaining an early edge in the nation is critical because the average age of a car buyer is only 35 - compared to closer to 55 in the U.S. - meaning early winners could parlay their brand success for decades. (Previous: GM and Ford bring back old models for China) Comment! [Consumer, Global & FX]
- Monday, April 22, 8:24 AM The theme for U.S. automakers at the Shanghai Auto Show appears to be back to the future with both General Motors (GM) and Ford (F) refreshing old models for the market in China. The companies think the Ford Escort and Buick Riviera will appeal to consumers in the nation with styles that don't come across as too arrogant. 2 Comments [Consumer]
- Thursday, April 18, 9:15 AM General Motors (GM) says the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze Turbo Diesel will deliver 46 miles per gallon, a rating higher than previous estimates from the automaker. What to watch: The era of Detroit gas guzzlers appears to be long gone as the Big Three (GM, F, FIATY.PK) continue to deliver vehicles (diesel and non-diesel) which meet or exceed mileage ratings from Japanese automakers (TM, HMC) for comparable models. The trend from Detroit could also have some impact on EV sales (NSANY.OB, TSLA) if consumers decide catching +40 mpg fuel economy is "green" enough. 18 Comments [Consumer, Global & FX]
- Wednesday, April 17, 7:21 AM China will be a bigger focus than ever of automakers in 2013 with 95 different brands battling for the 20M vehicles expected to be sold. What to watch: General Motors (GM) and Ford (F) have pushed most of the right buttons in the nation to jump ahead of Volkswagen (VLKAY.PK) - while Japanese automakers (HMC, TM, NSANY.OB) continue to sputter due to anti-Japanese sentiment. This year, expanding local joint venture production and introducing luxury models will be top priorities for the industry. 1 Comment [Consumer, Global & FX]
- Wednesday, April 17, 6:44 AM Ford (F) raises its stake in Jiangling Motors to 31.5%, according to a regulatory filing. The automaker indicates it may keep adding shares to take a 32% position which would be the highest allowed by Hong Kong regulators. Comment! [Consumer]
- Wednesday, April 17, 5:33 AM European car registrations dropped for the 18th consecutive month in March, slumping 10% to 1.35M vehicles. Germany led the way as sales skidded 17%, while Spain, Italy and France all fell, although the U.K. rose 5.9%. GM (GM) registrations -13%, Ford (F) -16% and Toyota (TM) -17%, although Honda (HMC) +17%. "People have stopped buying cars as consumers are much less confident of the future, especially after the latest decision on Cyprus," said analyst Hans-Peter Wodniok. (PR) 1 Comment [Top Stories, Global & FX, Consumer]
- Monday, April 15, 11:15 AM Ford (F -2.4%) thinks it can double its market share in China over the next three years as new products hit the nation. The automaker thinks the new Kuga sports utility vehicle, EcoSport compact SUV, and Mondeo mid-size sedan will help take it to 6% of the Chinese passenger car market by 2016. Comment! [Consumer]

Those who sell $AAPL today due to panic are the same people who sold $F when it hit $2 per share in 2009. Panic selling never works. - View all 6 replies
