- Wednesday, April 24, 8:23 AM A decline in Ford's (F) operating margin in North America during Q1 isn't a major worry to automobile industry watchers. The automaker is adding workers to keep up with increasing demand while the shift to smaller cars and SUVs is also bound to take a slight swipe at profits. Instead of being in a mode of cost-cutting, Ford is planning on positioning for future profits with automobile demand on the continent expected to continue to rise. F +1.1% premarket. (Previous on earnings: I, II) Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Wednesday, April 24, 7:22 AM More on Ford's (F) Q1: The automaker beats profit as results in North America and Asia offset weakness in Europe and South America. Operating margin in South America took a significant blow from the devaluation of the currency in Venezuela while higher pension costs impacted Europe. Ford reiterates its forecast for strong sales and double-digit operating margin in North America. Shares of Ford +1.4% premarket to $13.55. (PR) Comment! [Consumer, Earnings, On the Move]
- Tuesday, January 29, 7:22 AM More on Ford's (F) Q4: Strong results in North America drove overall profitability with Europe piling up losses of $732M for the period. Total company production of 1.5M units was up 9% from a year ago. Ford China saw a 41% increase in sales and boosted its market share. For 2013, the automaker sees increasing market share in the U.S. and China while Europe stays the level. Full-year 2013 pre-tax profit of close to $8B is forecast. F +2.4% premarket. (PR) 4 Comments [Consumer, On the Move, Earnings]
- Thursday, January 10, 8:25 AM Shares of Ford (F) move up 2.4% premarket after the automaker doubles up its dividend payout rate. More good news for Ford: The stock also lands on a list from Douglas Kass of his top stock picks for 2013. He expects shares to rise to above $17.50 during the year. 6 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, January 10, 8:05 AM Ford Motor Company (F) declares $0.10/share quarterly dividend, 100% increase from prior dividend of $0.05. Forward yield 2.96%. For shareholders of record Jan. 30. Payable Mar. 01. Ex-div date Jan. 28. Shares +1.8% premarket. (PR) 8 Comments [Dividends, On the Move]
- Thursday, January 3, 10:05 AM Shares of Ford (F +2%) break higher as investors warm up to the automaker's solid report on December sales amid a backdrop of a stressed consumer. Looking at the year as a whole, the automaker saw its F-Series truck show a double-digit gain in sales growth while it made strides with its lineup of fuel-efficient smaller models. Once again, the laggard was the Lincoln brand which Ford plans to give a shot in the arm in 2013. 5 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Wednesday, December 19, 2012, 8:17 AM Shares of Ford (F) trade 1.2% higher in premarket action after rival GM says its will buy back shares from the government. 1 Comment [Consumer, On the Move]
- Monday, December 3, 2012, 11:42 AM Westport Innovations (WPRT +5.5%) moves higher after expanding its product line to include natural gas-powered versions of Ford's (F) F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks in mid-2013. WPRT also is developing relationships with service body companies to offer installation of second unit bodies on its F-250 and F-350 pickup trucks. 2 Comments [Energy, On the Move]
- Friday, September 14, 2012, 9:49 AM Ford (F) says it’s cutting consumption of rare earths used in its hybrid and electric cars by 500K lbs./year and will save hundreds of dollars per car in the process. But shares of rare-earth leader Molycorp (MCP +5.6%) shoot higher anyway, adding to gains a day after China announced a 40% cut in the number of permits to mine rare earths. REE +5.7%, AVL +4.5%. 8 Comments [Commodities, On the Move]
- Tuesday, September 4, 2012, 10:07 AM Ford (F +1.1%) trades higher after sales of light vehicles shoot up 12.6% in August, compared to the estimate of analysts calling for a 9.8% gain. The automaker saw broad gains in its lineup of cars, utilities, and trucks - helping to justify its plan to increase Q4 production by 7% Y/Y to 725K. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, August 7, 2012, 2:42 PM Sherwin-Williams ([[SHW] +2.5%) says it's received an unsolicited, below-market mini-tender offer from TRC Capital to purchase up to 1M shares, approximately 0.97%, of its float, at $129.50 per share. The company recommends shareholders reject the offer. This isn't the first time TRC has tried to low-ball a bid for a company, it's made simlilar offers for Ford (F), Marathon Petroleum (MRO) and a number of other companies in what the SEC calls an attempt to "catch investors off guard." 2 Comments [On the Move]
- Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 7:08 AM Ford Motor (F): Q2 EPS of $0.3 beats by $0.01. Revenue of $33.3B beats by $1.13B. Shares -1.21% premarket. (PR) 1 Comment [Earnings, On the Move]
- Friday, June 29, 2012, 6:54 AM Citigroup removes Ford (F) from its Top Picks Live list after the automaker warns of global losses. After initially surviving weakness in the European auto market better than rivals, Ford now faces the same tough choices on downsizing on the continent. F -0.9% premarket. 5 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, June 28, 2012, 4:41 PM Ford (F) -2.5% AH after its CFO says international losses would triple in Q2, primarily because of much weaker European sales, and it could close an assembly plant in Europe should demand keep falling. Ford lost $190M in Q1 in its overseas operations, with Europe accounting for nearly 80%; it had forecast Q2 international losses would be roughly the same as Q1. 13 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Friday, April 27, 2012, 7:32 AM More on Ford's (F) Q1: North America unit records pre-tax profits of $2.1B. Automotive gross cash exceeded debt by $9.3B, up 98% Y/Y. Total vehicles wholesales 1.4M units, with lower wholesales in Europe and Pacific offset by strength in the Americas. Expects to stay on track with full-year metrics. Sees performance in Europe, South America and Asia Pacific Africa improving, while U.S. performance stays level. Shares +3.5% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Friday, April 27, 2012, 7:18 AM Ford (F): Q1 EPS of $0.39 beats by $0.03. Revenue of $32.4B beats by $1B. Shares +2.8% premarket. (PR) 3 Comments [Earnings, On the Move]

$F adding production and reducing summer shutdowns. $F is undervalued, I'm looking to see $18 by year end. - View all 2 replies

$TSLA's price is interesting -- the company is, apparently, a fourth the size of $GM and a sixth the size of $F. - View all 13 replies

Intangible Valuation: I am watching it closely with the *possibility* of shorting it. Bad news will crush the stock at some point I think...don't know when. -
Zeus2012: I would not short TSLA until there's indication of the Fed phasing out QE.
