- Monday, May 20, 10:27 AM A number of auto supplier stocks trade higher again as enthusiasm from last week on global demand spills over to early trading this week. A Goldman Sachs upgrade on Meritor (MTOR +6.7%) to a Buy rating is also helping to lift sentiment. Advancers: Federal-Mogul (FDML) +1.9%, Oshkosk (OSK) +1.4%, Icahn Enterprises (IEP) +2.8%, Stoneridge (SRI) +3.8%. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Friday, May 17, 11:43 AM A broad rally in auto supplier stocks isn't a shocker after positive news piled in from across the globe. In Europe, a long slide in sales has finally reversed while China is opening up the western part of its territory for manufacturers. Just to top it off quite nicely, consumer sentiment rose briskly in the U.S. Advancers: American Axle (AXL) +4.5%, Dana Holding (DAN) +4.1%, TRW Automotive (TRW) +2.2%, Navistar (NAV) +4.4%, Federal-Mogul (FDML) +4.2%, Magna International +1.9%, Meritor (MTOR) +2%, Johnson Controls (JCI) +1.9%, Exide Technologies (XIDE) +5.5%. 1 Comment [Consumer, On the Move]
- Monday, May 13, 11:07 AM More Chinese companies are popping up in Detroit as they prepare for the eventuality of a major Chinese auto manufacturer selling cars in the U.S. For the most part, the firms are flying under the radar, but the numbers are starting to swell. The Detroit Chinese Business Association now has over 100 Chinese-owned businesses in its membership with the largest percentage geared toward supplying the automobile industry. It's a trend to watch for auto suppliers (AXL, ARMH, ALV, BWA, CLC, DAN, FDML, GNTX, JCI, MGA, TEN, TRW, WBC) used to having a home field advantage with the Big Three automakers. Comment! [Consumer]
- Monday, April 29, 11:22 AM A few Chrysler suppliers are trading higher, perhaps getting a lift from the automaker's Q1 earnings report that didn't show much in the way of profits but did signal a ramp-up in production. Advancers: Meritor (MTOR) +6.6%, Federated-Mogul (FDML) +3.0%, Gentherm (THRM) +2.3%, Fuel Systems Solution (FSYS) +1.8%. Comment! [Consumer]
- Thursday, April 25, 10:33 AM Shares of Federated-Mogul (FDML +23.6%) roar higher despite missing estimates on both lines with its Q1 report. Investors seem to be paying an undue amount of attention to a Goldman Sachs upgrade on the stock to Neutral from Sell. During the company's earnings call (transcript), execs did say they were "cautiously optimistic" for the second half of the year - although that's not typically the type of guidance to kickstart a +20% share price rip. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Wednesday, April 24, 8:43 AM Federal-Mogul (FDML): Q1 EPS of -$0.34 misses by $0.13. Revenue of $1.7B misses by $0.04B. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Consumer]

- Tuesday, April 23, 5:30 PM Notable earnings before Wednesday’s open: ABB, ABX, ASH, ATI, AVY, BA, BYD, CFR, CKSW, COR, CP, CS, CVE, DPS, EDU, ELN, EMN, ERIC, F, FDML, GD, GLW, GRA, HCBK, HES, ICON, LAD, LL, LLY, LO, MDCO, MSI, MTH, NDAQ, NOC, NS, NVS, NYCB, OC, OCR, OSIS, PG, PLD, PX, RES, ROK, S, SO, SVU, TEL, TKR, TMO, TROW, TUP, USG, VLY, VMED, WAB, WHR, WLP, WM, WYN Comment! - Wednesday, April 17, 8:24 AM Procter & Gamble's (PG) plan to save $2B by stretching out supplier payments is nothing new in the industry. Kimberly-Clark, Church & David, and Energizer Holdings all beat the company to the punch in employing the tactic to free up cash. What to watch: If automobile manufacturers decide to toy with the same idea, analysts think it could create a cash pinch for suppliers such as BWA, NAV, FSYS, FDML, AXL, TOWR, JCI, DLPH, and LEA. 3 Comments [Consumer]
- Tuesday, April 9, 10:02 AM Auto parts stocks take a turn higher with news from Fiat and General Motors boding well for manufacturing. Advancers: Remy International (REMY) +2.7%, WABCO Holdings (WBC) +2.4%, Federal-Mogul (FDML) +1.1%, Meritor (MTOR) +1.0%. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, April 2, 2:09 PM Auto industry stocks perform well after the Big Three automakers (GM, Ford, Chrysler) all report strong sales in the U.S. for March and appear to be motoring full speed ahead with production plans. Auto parts: Federal-Mogul (FDML) +5.0%, Remy International (REMY) +4.9%, Accuride (ACW) +2.5%, Meritor (MTOR) +2.0%. Auto stores: O'Reilly Automotive (ORLY) +1.8%, AutoZone (AZO) +1.7%. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]

- Wednesday, July 18, 2012, 10:49 AM Shares of a number of auto suppliers move higher with sector upgrades tipping sentiment. A rating boost by Jefferies on Oshkosh Truck (OSK +5.1%) to Buy from Hold and JPMorgan's initiation of TRW Automotive (TRW +3.7%) at Overweight leads the charge. A common theme with analysts is that improvement in commercial and construction markets will help offset defense-industry sluggishness. Sector gainers: BWA +2.5%, NAV +1.9%, FSYS +3.2%, FDML +2.6%, SMP +2.5%, GNTX +2.3%. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
