Banks Hit Bottom – Cramer’s Mad Money (7/21/08) [view article]
ShortingHurt - Long, hard read but holy shit - I'm going to start sleeping with one eye open and my Glock under my pillow.Part way through I'm thinking this sounds like a lucrative venture for the "mob". Guess I wasn't the first one it occurred to.
If you wrote a movie about this nobody would believe it - this is wilder than fiction. The worst part is it would seem to be so damn obvious to any one in the SEC or any area of the business.
Used car dealers, lawyers and real estate people just moved up a couple of notches on my slime ball list. Reply

PJ568, thanks for your feedback. We largely report adjusted earnings. This is due to the fact that analyst consensus estimates, which are the gauge by which many judge whether a given company has beaten or missed expectations, are formulated based on adjusted earnings. Many of the numbers referenced above appear to be adjusted and not actual. WB and BSX are two that jumped out as being off. One would expect adequate disclosure from the SA Editor about the numbers being referenced. Constantly reporting and discussing adjusted numbers is a sign of weakness that shouldn't be ignored. It is amazing that so much of the financial health of the western world hinges on the performance of these public / private entities Fannie and Freddie. I was once a stockholder (liked the dividend), but sold when it became apparent to me a few years ago that I did not understand who the management worked for. If they are a cornerstone of the economy, the performance of their management needs to be judged by a standard of security, not growth of EPS, which drove them away from their government mission toward chasing the returns of sub-prime loans. Then the government wanted them to broaden the size of loans that they would handle. Despite hating a larger role for government, I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that they neeed to be publicly owned and directed. Ugh. I can't believe that I said that. Replye

Oh yeah UBS is all over their 52 week high. ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
why pay attention to moody,s? why pay attention to anybody? all have an agenda & its not to put money in your pocket.once you know that selfserving lying & greed is the game you should think for yourself. ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
well looks like Moody's go unlished playing the rating game again without foundation or facts and just based on speculation. They need to reinstate triple A ratings on some of the bond insurers that were downgraded unjustifiably Replynger

I'm sure Cramer's smart, but it seems he often jumps on the bandwagon & touts stocks when they're at 52 week highs, which is about the time you might want to think about getting out of them. ReplyBanks Hit Bottom – Cramer’s Mad Money (7/21/08) [view article]
Amazing, he's calling a bottom in financials during what will be the worst financial crisis in our history. So we are goign to erase decades of greed, mismanagement and fraud with only a couple of financial institutions failing. We will be at a bottom when thousands, THOUSANDS of banks have failed, no one wants to buy stocks, PE in mid single digits, only a few posts on SA and Cramer's show is off the air because ratings are so low. He's the stock market version of Flip This House CNBC should rename his show Flip this Stock Replyg

Isn't this the same Jim Cramer who told us about "toxic rivers of debt" and to sell JPM, USB, WFC and BAC just a few weeks ago? I suspect he may just be a "pump and dump". Anyway, I have a laugh looking over his past videos. He MUST be working in collusion with some hedge fund. I cannot believe anything this idiot says.Read this please. It's worth your time, I promise.

Banner Bank is in the Seattle high tech and aerospace area and seems to have zero subpar loan exposure. Strong economic area and this Bank has been unfairly taken down...look for a great quarterly report coming up is my analysis based on my own research. Check it out BANR...when you check out all the other recommendations. ReplyTiedeman

Wyeth's Alzheimer's Vaccine Could Become World's #1 Drug - Barron's [view article]
cack211 -- very sorry about your loss. I indeed hope this, or something like it, is the breakthrough that so many are waiting for.Having said that, I don't think discussions of the therapeutic and commercial benefits of new medicines are mutually exclusive. If all the medicines waiting to be discovered were to have to wait for massive charitable donations alone before they were discovered, I daresay the wait would be a whole lot longer. The fact commercial interests can make big money from breakthrough medicines is no doubt an impetus for their discovery and development, and as such I think the discussion thereof is healthy and should be facilitated. My husband passed away a few weeks ago after years of wasting away from the effects of Alzheimer's Disease. Those who talk only about stock benefits and the business angle have never watched someone they love die a minute at a time, not understanding why they can't think, can't remember, can't concentrate. A drug that could potentially reverse some of that, and relieve the anguish for the patient and for the family - deserve to be the only story. The billions for Wyeth are nice, but how wonderful it will be for future patients to get some of their lives back! I would have given anything to have had this opportunity for my husband! Reply
