After-hours top gainers, as of 5:15 p.m.: GIII +7%. CHUY +5%. FTNT +4%. QLIK +4%. ACHN +4%.
After-hours top losers: RECN -7%. LGND -7%. MXWL -6%. FSYS -5%. ARRY -5%. Comment! [On the Move] - Tuesday, April 30, 6:16 PM Sourcefire (FIRE) now +9.8% AH following its Q1 report. Though the IPS security hardware leader missed estimates and issued light Q2 guidance, it reiterated its 2013 revenue growth guidance of 25% on its CC, soothing concerns about U.S. federal orders. Meanwhile, UTM security hardware leader Fortinet (FTNT) is almost unchanged AH in spite of issuing soft 2013 guidance to go with its Q1 results. Fortinet expects 2013 revenue of $595M-$605M and EPS of $0.49, below a consensus of $611.9M and $0.57 - a downward revision was probably expected following the company's April 10 warning. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Tuesday, April 30, 4:20 PM Fortinet (FTNT): Q1 EPS of $0.10 in-line. Revenue of $135.8M (+16% Y/Y) beats by $0.18M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Tech]

- Wednesday, April 17, 10:30 AM Fortinet (FTNT +2.2%) hires Ahmad Rubie, most recently the CFO of SAP-acquired Ariba, to be both its CFO and COO; the latter is a newly-created position. The hiring comes 7 months after well-respected CFO Ken Goldman left for Yahoo, and a week after Fortinet issued a Q1 warning. (PR) Comment! [Tech, On the Move]

After-hours top gainers, as of 5:45 p.m.: AEZS +29%. ZUMZ +10%. PCYG +4%. BLK +4%. MDU +3%.
After-hours top losers: FTNT -15%. APOG -7%. EQIX -4%. FIRE -4%. YUM -3%. Comment! [On the Move] - Wednesday, April 10, 4:35 PM Fortinet (FTNT) -13.5% AH after warning it expects Q1 revenue of $134M-$136M and EPS of $0.10, below a consensus of $140.4M and $0.12. Billings are pegged at $147M-$149M, below guidance of $158M-$162M. The company blames a failure to close a few U.S. service provider deals (F5's warning also cited telco demand), EMEA/Latin America weakness, and inventory shortages and product timing issues. Asia-Pac and U.S. enterprise demand was healthy. With shares trading at 36x 2013E EPS, there wasn't much room for error. Did Ken Goldman's departure play a role? CC at 5PM ET (webcast). CHKP -1.3%. PANW -0.8%. FIRE -1.5%. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Friday, April 5, 9:51 AM The bloodletting in enterprise IT and telecom equipment names that followed F5's March quarter warning yesterday afternoon has spread, with some telecom component/chip names now among the companies getting hit hard. This morning's weak NFP report certainly isn't helping matters. JDSU -5%. CVLT -6.1%. EZCH -4.5%. INFA -3.9%. QLIK -3.9%. MLNX -3.6%. CAVM -8.5%. RKUS -5%. FTNT -3.9%. FNSR -6%. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Friday, March 22, 9:26 AM Fortinet (FTNT) is encroaching on F5's (FFIV) turf by acquiring Coyote Point Systems, a maker of application delivery controllers (ADCs) for SMBs. Fortinet claims Coyote Point's products, which (like F5's) rely on a proprietary OS, complement its core FortiGate unified threat management security hardware, as well as its firewall and denial-of-service appliances. The purchase comes as F5, which sells to enterprises and carriers in addition to SMBs, launches firewall hardware, as well as security modules for its ADCs. Comment! [Tech, M&A]
- Tuesday, February 12, 1:51 PM Security hardware stocks rally on expectations Pres. Obama will issue an executive order meant to bolster government spending on cybersecurity following tonight's State of the Union. Intrusion prevention system leader SourceFire (FIRE +8.8%), which received 28% of its sales from the U.S. government in Q3, is the biggest winner, but Fortinet (FTNT +4.3%), Check Point (CHKP +1.2%), and Palo Alto Networks (PANW +1.1%) are also higher. 3 Comments [Tech, On the Move]

VNR -5%. 1 Comment [On the Move] - Wednesday, January 30, 5:49 PM Fortinet (FTNT) guides on its Q4 call for Q1 revenue of $138M-$141M and 2013 revenue of $625M-$635M, mostly above a consensus of $139.6M and $618.9M. The company expects 2013 EPS of $0.60-$0.61, in-line with a $0.61 consensus. Shares +16.3% AH thanks to the guidance and a strong Q4 beat. Recent downgrades aren't looking too smart. Up in sympathy: PANW +3.1%. FIRE +4.9%. CHKP +1%. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
