Bank of Canada keeps its overnight rate target at 0.25%, and repeats its conditional commitment to keep it there until the end of Q2 2010. BoC said closing Canada's output gap and reaching its inflation target of 2% won't happen until Q3 2011, one quarter later than its previous forecast. (MW) Loonie's off 1.1%. (ETFs: EWC, FXC)

Dennis Gartman, who's spending the week in Toronto, says it's only a matter of time before the Loonie (currently $0.965) retests its 2007 high of $1.10. "In the current environment, it seems unfair to pit the $U.S. vs. its Canadian alternative, for the latter has too many things going for it and the former seems at the moment to have none."
