I think its unfair to list NETS etfs in this list even though they have very few assets.NETS launched a whole bunch of these country specific etfs like DAX for Germany recently. So it may take some time before they grow. What do other readers think? Reply

also etns may be easier to create by issuer than etfs
    if a demand appears
the issue is whether ubs feels it pays to have resources devoted to a 5 mln indexed certificate of deposit (uag)

plus timing, nets may take some time to take off

ETF Update: Financial ETFs, Energy Exploration and ETFs [view article]
"Offshore oil wouldn't hit the market until 2030" - 22 years?

Dude, you have to get off of the George Soros websites and talk to some real oil experts. Oil from new offshore rigs could be in your corner gas station in less than 3 years, depending on the location and the depth of the source.

As has been pointed out by others, the ones calling for a bottom in financials didn't see the crash coming, so who cares what they think?

Tom, you're spending too much time with Fox Noise. All that happy talk is bad for your judgment.

Turns out that the ultrashort Financials ETF was clearly the way to go. Question: is it still a buy, or have financials bottomed out now? And is it worth getting more granular, for example by shorting the broker-dealers ETF or the regional banks ETF? Reply

Are you aware of Stock-Encyclopedia.com (etf.stock-encyclopedia.../), which has a nice listing of ETFs. They are categorized somewhat differently from this listing, though. Reply

Has anyone compared the performance of these ETFs, and the PowerShares methodology generally, to plain index funds? I'd be very interested to hear the results. Reply

that will be the question. They are supposed to offer qualitative screens they hope will isolate the better companies within each segment with the intention of beating the true index funds with no qualitative screening.

Obviously it is unknowable yet if these will outperform.

    Roger,

Will Claymore be using a mirror version of Pictet's water infrastructure fund, or a proprietary index?
