Oh, did you see the SA news about the mortgage loan default rates in July. That looked awful. People must really be reaching if they think there's a big upside push soon. Reply

It seems all the financials are up today on the speculation that KDB will try to buy Lehman. Lehman couldn't manage to raise money last time it tried (or at least Lehman has a hard time of it). It seems likely to me that this speculation may find its end in the dust heap. Perhaps Bernanke et al will engineer another buyout by a US bank. GS seem like they might be a good candidate? It does seem like the pain has to return soon, expecially with Putin and Iran making all kinds of trouble. I am amazed the market is up so much today. Anyone have any predictions for the near term. I still see a channel to the upside based on today's action. However, it looks like it might end soon. Reply

Q2 2008 Portfolio Moves: David Winters, T. Boone Pickens, Jim Puplava [view article]
I follow T. Boone's picks religously, and own many of his picks, including the ones mentioned above. He is the only one I see who makes any sense at all on the subject of the energy crisis we are headed toward. Most of the others, including the Wall Street crowd, just don't get it yet. They will eventually, and that is when it will be time to sell.

"Putin is lootin'" ... that's a classic! May I borrow that? And you're right: they really are Soviets in their mindset and objectives... and in their souls.

Nice job, David, as always. Other than oil and a few healthcare sectors, I don't see anything close to being positive. Good time to stay on the sidelines. JMHO.

Im not so sure Gold Eagle sales will be suspended for a protacted time, this is likely no more than a supply chain bump.

I think the key point of interest though, is that the US Mint hasn't done anything like this in something like 20 years.

That in itself should tell you something about this market.

Commodities: Brief Correction or Bursting Bubble? [view article]
Let's all just use the Feds favorite tool of choice and print more money!!!
Hey, it's worked before, and look at all the stuff we all have and all the fat cats enjoying it!! Who really cares that the future generations will be living in slums because foreign countries own every bit of our country and can hold us hostage by threatening to call our debts in...

Party on like there is no tomorrow! Besides, nothing really seems wrong anymore. Everybody is a crook and gets a bailout, why not us??

Excuse me while I go run up some more purchases on my credit cards!!

Gold is nothing more than the messenger.

Like a thermostat on your car, it serves the purpose of letting you know when your engine is overheating.

If you think the turmoil in the credit derivatives and credit crisis are over, perhaps its time for more research.

The Inconvenient Truth of the Slowing U.S. Economy [view article]
It seems clear that the financial community up to and including Bernanke have been behaving in an illegal manner, with deliberate concealment, dereliction of duty and misappropriation of public funds.
Bernanke clearly knew that public money was being used in a highly speculative manner, andx misrepresented this fact.
Prosecutions should be a priority of the next administration.
