- Friday, July 29, 2011, 10:13 AM TeleNav (TNAV), a provider of location-based services (LBS) for mobile devices, is down 39.3%. While FQ4 numbers beat consensus, the company's FY12 guidance for revenue of $215M-$225M and non-GAAP EPS of $0.58-$0.68 is below a consensus of $237.6M and $0.88. Competition from Google (GOOG) and other LBS providers appears to be taking its toll. (PR) Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Friday, July 29, 2011, 8:54 AM Quick take on Samsung's Q2: Combined with HTC's (HTCCF.PK) Q2, Samsung's numbers should allay fears of Motorola's (MMI) outlook indicating broader weakness for phone manufacturers. Samsung's comments on DRAM weakness don't bode well for Micron (MU), but its remarks on NAND supply should go well with Sandisk (SNDK) investors. Comment! [Tech, Earnings]
- Friday, July 29, 2011, 8:22 AM While Motorola's (MMI -5.9% premarket) profit outlook disappoints, business is good for rival HTC (HTCCF.PK), which benefits from a lower cost structure than Motorola, and higher economies of scale. The company reports Q2 revenue and net profit grew 104% and 103% Y/Y, respectively, and is projecting 80% Y/Y Q3 revenue growth. Comment! [Tech, Earnings]
- Thursday, July 28, 2011, 4:25 PM More from Motorola Mobility (MMI) earnings: Expects Q3 EPS of $0.00-0.10 vs. consensus of $0.24 and full-year EPS of $0.48-0.60 vs. $0.71. Shipped 11M mobile devices including 4.4M smartphones and 440K tablets. Mobile devices revenues of $2.4B (up 41%); Home revenues of $907M (up 2%). Shares now -6.6% AH. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Thursday, July 28, 2011, 4:10 PM Motorola Mobility (MMI): Q2 EPS of $0.09 beats by $0.03. GAAP earnings resulted in a net loss of $0.19/share. Revenue of $3.3B (+28% Y/Y) beats by $0.2B. Of the GAAP EPS difference: $0.16/share came from stock-based compensation expense and $0.07 from legal provision/settlements. Shares -4.4% AH. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Tech]
- Thursday, July 28, 2011, 12:10 AM Notable earnings after Thursday's close: ARBA, CDNS, CHK, CSTR, CYH, DDR, EXPE, FII, GNW, GRM, IM, KEG, KLAC, LEG, MCK, MET, MMI, MXIM, NETL, NLY, QLGC, QLIK, RADS, RGC, RSG, SBUX, SWN, VECO, VRSN, VRTX, VSEA, WOOF Comment! [Earnings]
- Friday, July 22, 2011, 8:34 AM While Nokia's (NOK) smartphone freefall has received plenty of attention, the company's Chinese struggles are only now getting close scrutiny. Nokia's Q2 phone shipments in China fell 41% Y/Y. MKM's Tero Kuittinen sees an opportunity for Motorola (MMI), which has been gaining ground in China, to profit from Nokia's weakness. 2 Comments [Tech, Earnings, Quick Ideas]
- Tuesday, July 19, 2011, 8:10 AM Apple's (AAPL) FQ3 results are due out later, when it's forecast to report that EPS surged 66% to $5.85 and revenue 59% to $24.99B. Investors will look for details of a new possibly cheaper version of the iPhone that can better fend off competition from Android (GOOG) handsets. Comment! [Earnings, Tech, Consumer]
- Friday, July 15, 2011, 8:20 AM Google (GOOG) is now heavily undervalued, Piper Jaffray says. Yesterday's strong Q2 will force investors to credit Google with at least 20% revenue growth next year - the hurdle for a growth stock. Firm notes Google has made "a concerted effort to focus on improving ad quality and click through," and boosts price target to $750 from $673. Comment! [Tech, Quick Ideas, Earnings]
- Thursday, July 14, 2011, 5:48 PM Google's (GOOG) earnings call includes some encouraging mobile division data: daily Android activations are now above 550K; traffic for its AdMob mobile ad network has grown 3.5x in the last year; and 6B Android apps have been downloaded - this holds up well against Apple's (AAPL) 15B App Store downloads, given Apple's head start. Shares +12.1% AH. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Thursday, July 14, 2011, 5:13 PM Google (GOOG) confirms in an upbeat earnings call that Google+ has 10M members since its invite-only launch, and that the "+1" button for recommending sites has been served 2.3B times a day. The company is trying to simplify even as its revenues spread beyond core search to YouTube and mobiles. GOOG +11.5% AH. (earnings beat) Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Thursday, July 14, 2011, 4:38 PM Google (GOOG) is now up 11.4% AH following its earnings beat, and other Internet stocks are moving higher in sympathy. YHOO +1.7%. AMZN +1.3%. BIDU +2.4%. EBAY +2.4%. LNKD +1.1%. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Earnings]
- Thursday, July 14, 2011, 4:06 PM Google (GOOG): Jumps 10.1% AH on a killer earnings beat. Revenue, ex-traffic acquisition, of $6.92B beat consensus of $6.55B. Sites revenues of $6.23B; networks revenues of $2.48B. Paid clicks up 18% and cost per click up 12%. 1 Comment [Earnings, On the Move, Breaking News]
- Thursday, July 14, 2011, 4:02 PM Google (GOOG): Q2 EPS of $8.74 beats by $0.88. Revenue of $6.92B (+36% Y/Y). Shares +6.8% AH. (PR) 6 Comments [Earnings, Tech, Breaking News, Top Stories]
- Thursday, July 14, 2011, 12:10 AM Notable earnings after Thursday's close: CBST, GOOG, Comment! [Earnings]
- Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 7:47 AM Some details Google (GOOG) investors should look for in the company's earnings release and CC, due after Thursday's close: the health of the core paid search business; Google's plans (or lack thereof) to rein in spending; the status of the company's Android IP disputes; and some color on Google Offers and long-term plans for Google+. 3 Comments [Tech, Earnings]

Mongoose7916: I think bears are to scared to short it past these levels. This level is safe until more news about the case/settlement happen. -
jlf75: There is no workaround. There's no way a method can be worked around. This is all lawyering but when JJ realizes it, it's curtains for GOOG.
