- Tuesday, June 18, 10:59 AM Health Net (HNT +1.1%) reaffirms its FY13 guidance of $2.20 - $2.30 per share on revenues of between $10.7B - $11.2B. Street estimates are for an EPS of $2.23 on revenues of $11.17B. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move, Earnings]
- Monday, April 29, 2:56 PM Health Net (HNT +4.8%) trades up today after its Q1 came in better than expected. The company swung to a net profit during the quarter, as lower expenses helped to offset declining health-plan enrollment and revenue. The company also forecast its EPS to come in better than Street estimates, now seeing FY13 earnings of around $2.20 to $2.30 a share on revenue of between $10.7B and $11.2B. Analysts expected $2.07 a share on $11.32B in revenue. Comment! [Healthcare, Earnings, On the Move]
- Monday, April 29, 8:26 AM Health Net (HNT): Q1 EPS of $0.62. Revenue of $2.79B beats by $0.01B. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Healthcare]
- Wednesday, April 17, 12:33 PM The big surge in health care stocks earlier this month just prior to the government's decision on Medicare Advantage rates may have been due to an email to sent by a former top congressional aide who now happens to be an outside lobbyist for Humana (HUM -1.9%). The email, which is now subject to an SEC probe, was sent to a Washington investment-research firm and circulated to clients just minutes before the close of trading, saying that "credible sources" had told them a decision had been made to restore the payments. 4 Comments [Healthcare]
- Tuesday, April 2, 10:41 AM Goldman Sachs opts to remain selective on a few names in the managed care sector following yesterday's announcement by the CMS that Medicaid Advantage rates were going higher. It's reiterating a CL-Buy on UnitedHealth (UNH +7.6%), calling its valuation under 10X FY14 EPS attractive, as well a Buy on Health Net (HNT +3.6%) and WellCare (WCG +5.2%). It maintains Sell ratings on Humana (HUM +8.3%) and Universal American (UAM +9.9%) however, noting the majority of their earnings are tied to Medicaid Advantage with about half of those members in non-HMO plans." Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move, U.S. Economy]
- Wednesday, January 30, 8:21 AM Health Net (HNT): Q4 EPS of $0.06. Revenue of $2.8B (+4.4% Y/Y) beats by $0.03B. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Healthcare]
- Thursday, January 24, 12:00 PM In addition to its reaching an agreement with Health Net (HNT +1%) on reimbursement rates, Tenet Healthcare (THC +3.5%) gets an added boost from an upgrade to Outperform at Raymond James. The firm says that despite the run we've already seen in hospital stocks, there's still room for THC. The company has solid free cash flow and its refinancing efforts will only add more that down the road. Additional growth drivers, such as the Conifer health-information business and benefits from the health-care overhaul, should help propel the stock higher over the near term. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Thursday, January 24, 11:50 AM Managed-care provider Health Net (HNT +1%) says it's reached a new agreement with Tenet Healthcare (THC +3.5%), which reinstates a relationship with the THC's network of hospitals in California that expired in December to an inability to agree on reimbursement amounts. Comment! [Healthcare]
- Thursday, December 27, 2012, 6:04 PM Managed-care provider Health Net (HNT) says it's opted to terminate its agreements with Tenet Healthcare's (THC) six southern California hospitals after failing to negotiate a new contract due to their inability to reach an agreement on reimbursement amounts. Comment! [Healthcare]
- Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 5:24 PM Health Net (HNT) lowers guidance, now seeing FY13 EPS in the range of $2.00 - $2.10, below consensus estimates of $2.12. Revenue is expected to come in around $10.7B - $11.2B, with Street consensus at $12.08B. The company says the lower estimates are largely due to ongoing product and geographic mix shifts, plus higher overall costs. Shares -11% AH. 1 Comment [Healthcare, On the Move, Earnings]
- Tuesday, December 4, 2012, 10:25 AM Health Net (HNT +5.5%) takes an early lead out of the gate this morning on an upgrade to Outperform at Wells Fargo. The firm says the health insurer has dealt with most of the challenges it has faced in 2012 and has a number of positive catalysts to propel it higher over the near term, including growth opportunities in California, along with its recently signed agreement with the DHCS. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Monday, November 5, 2012, 8:23 AM Health Net (HNT): Q3 EPS of $0.22 misses by $0.46. Revenue of $2.8B (+3.3% Y/Y) in-line. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Financials]

- Tuesday, October 2, 2012, 9:58 AM Around 12M people will buy $55B worth of health coverage in 2014 via the insurance exchanges being created as part of Obamacare, PWC predicts, adding that the figures could rise to 29M people and $205B respectively by 2021. Most of the money will be new, although some will come from other parts of the market, such as from people whose employers had paid for coverage until now. 1 Comment [Healthcare]
- Monday, August 20, 2012, 12:03 PM Shares of Medicare and diversified health management companies drift lower on the back of the Aetna/Coventry deal: Health Net (HNT -1%), Molina Healthcare (MOH -1.8%), Magellan Health Services (MGLN -1%). Centene (CNC -5.8%) is getting particularly hard hit, because the managed care company could lose premium as no clear buyers of this government payer exist. Comment!
