Lets assume the worst and that is the Fannie and Freddie stock go bust to zero, the government take the GSE's, so what? are we going to h*** for that? are the mortgages in their books go bust? are we going to crush? the answer is no! all those mortgages in their books will automatically be backed up by the government and even be rated as triple A, that will upgrade the books of all of those holding them into CDOs, MBS, SIVs and cause massive write ups! so what is the nonsense in here? that would be the best case scenario for bond and mortgages insurers, I am sure there are many of them praying for the government to take over the books of Freddie and Fannie. IBA has only 50 M shares. It is a small gem of a poultry/egg/feed producer-distributer in Mexico. Dominated by a single family this is a modern company that is growing organically and by acquisition in an otherwise fragmented market. Reply

Thanks for the feedback. The smaller companies mentioned by User 10755 are also considered "green" and have a role to play in sustainable, clean technologies. The same could be said for ECOL and CECE. As an investor though, the green sector is probably best approached through an ETF so we can get a variety of green companies Reply

What about a variety of small to micro-cap stocks that we'd consider Green companies such as:

CPST, SATC, HYGS, CPTC, ESLR, ZOLT, PWR, DAR...

Does any of these smaller companies qualify as sustainable, possibly on another level?

    Thank You

User is right -- we did extensive research on Chipotle, and although it's a stock and company we like, don't be deceived -- their food is really not that healthy. What is healthy is the way they treat the environment and from where they get their inputs... Reply

I hate to see anyone label Chopotle Burritos as "Healthy",no matter where their meat comes from! For a veggie burrito, with NO cheese or sour cream, but only black beans, rice, guacamole, and lettuce on a 13" burrito there are 25 grams of fat and over 2000mg of sodium, 87% of your RDA. More like deadly than healthy! Reply

Are First Solar's panels really the most efficient? I am certainly no expert on efficiency of solar panels, but I have read other articles that SPWR produces more efficient (but higher cost because of the cost of silicon) panels. Reply

    dieuwer,

give it up...in 1982, oil was overpriced and the DJIA underpriced. Anyone who shorted oil and went long stocks in 1982 is a billionaire today. In 2008, the same is true, oil is overpriced and stocks are underpriced; short oil and go long stocks and in 25 years you'll be a billionaire

lets face it, most of you couldn't carry Abby's running bra.
If you have been investing thru many cycles (I have) you will know that yesterday's huge winners are tomorrow's giant losers.
DHI, if owned for a proper time period...like 3 years, will very likely do far better than commodities.

Hi,,,,ever since Abby named AT&T as one of her favorites, it has done nothing but go down. So much for Abby's picks and notice that they are all on NYSE AND LARGE CAP STOCKS TOO. Reply
