"It is not easy for me to get up in front of you today... I can well understand that some of you are angry... and even furious," Infineon (IFX) CEO tells shareholders at annual meeting today. From $11 in May 2008, IFX is now a penny stock, -5.3% to $0.90.

Nary a month after securing €325M in emergency loans, Qimonda (QI) files for bankruptcy. "The insolvency petition is the result of the massive drop in prices in the DRAM industry and dramatically decreased access to financing on the capital markets." 77.5% stakeholder Infineon (IFX) -5.6% in Frankfurt.

A raid was conducted several months ago against STMicroelectronics (STM), Infineon Technologies (IFX) and Renesas, says the European Commission, on suspicions the firms were colluding with each other on microchips.

After warning it could run out of cash, German memory chip maker Qimonda (QI) gets a €325M cash infusion from its biggest shareholders, including a €75M loan from 77.5% stakeholder Infineon (IFX). Last week the world’s #2 memory chipmaker, Hynix, sliced production, which may help clear out a worldwide glut.
