Thursday, March 7, 9:46 AM Immersion (IMMR +26%) skies higher after striking a multi-year licensing deal with Samsung for its basic haptic effects IP. Thanks to the deal, the company now expects 2013 revenue of $44M-$48M, well above prior guidance of $28M-$32M and a consensus of $30.2M. Monday, February 4, 1:30 PM Immersion (IMMR +3.8%) catches a bid after announcing it has expanded its haptic feedback technology licensing deal with LG Electronics to include basic haptic effects. LG already licenses Immersion's TouchSense tech, which covers more complex haptic effects. Monday, December 17, 2012, 2:24 PM Among the sensory technologies IBM's R&D labs expects to have a big impact over the next 5 years: haptic capabilities that deliver a real-life sense of touch (IMMR is a player here); image-recognition capabilities for billions of photo/video uploads (Facebook and Google are both investing here); sensor networks for analyzing audio activity; and smell sensors embedded into mobile devices. Tuesday, November 27, 2012, 9:53 AM Immersion (IMMR +24.5%) is taking off after announcing it has settled its patent dispute with Motorola Mobility (GOOG). Immersion will be compensated for past shipments of Motorola devices containing basic haptic feedback tech, and a licensing deal has been reached for future shipments (terms are undisclosed). Friday, August 3, 2012, 12:11 PM Immersion (IMMR +6.7%) jumps following its Q2 report. The results aren't great: revenue of $6.5M (-3% Y/Y) missed by $1.3M and EPS of -$0.08 was in-line. However, Immersion said on its earnings call it could reach new licensing deals by year's end that would allow it to reach the high end of its 2012 revenue guidance range of $32M-$38M (consensus is for $35.1M). Friday, May 4, 2012, 6:39 PM Though rumors the latest iPad would contain haptic feedback technology didn't pan out, Apple (AAPL) remains interested in the concept, as a recent patent filing demonstrates. The filing covers technology that could provide feedback advanced enough to emulate a raised button or terrain map, and also discusses flexible OLED displays. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, 1:49 PM In spite of rumors to the contrary, pricing for new iPad models will be on par with that for similar iPad 2 models. Immersion (IMMR -3.7%) and OmniVision (OVTI -0.8%) have given up their early gains. Haptic feedback support hasn't yet been announced, and there may be fears that the similarities between the cameras used in the new iPad and the iPhone 4S indicate a Sony sensor is being used. $IMMR has Panasonic AND Google/Mot, Sony,Samsung,LG. They own haptics with patents/royalty on every phone, tablet and soon game console!
