- Thursday, May 2, 5:47 PM Immersion (IMMR): Q1 EPS of $0.08 beats by $0.02. Revenue of $13.9M (+43% Y/Y) beats by $2.75M. Maintains guidance for 2013 revenue of $44M-$48M; consensus is at $45.3M. Shares +1.9% AH after rising 7.1% in regular trading. (PR) Comment! [Tech, Earnings, Breaking News]
- Thursday, May 2, 1:45 PM Immersion (IMMR +7.2%) is posting a huge gain ahead of this afternoon's Q1 report, albeit on moderate volume - does someone know something, or is the haptic feedback tech provider just showing some of its trademark volatility? Shares are now up 62% YTD, aided in no small part by a March licensing deal with Samsung. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]

Midday top 10 gainers: IMMR +39%. AFFY +36%. HOTT +29%. CTC +26%. NAV +26%. GMXR +20%. REE +18%. HIMX +18%. CIEN +17%. MITK +17%.
Midday top 10 losers: SCTY -14%. AV -12%. BAA -12%. HTHT -12%. YY -11%. BORN -10%. MCOX -9%. MTG -9%. BLDP -9%. JRCC -9%. Comment! [On the Move] - Thursday, March 7, 9:46 AM Immersion (IMMR +26%) skies higher after striking a multi-year licensing deal with Samsung for its basic haptic effects IP. Thanks to the deal, the company now expects 2013 revenue of $44M-$48M, well above prior guidance of $28M-$32M and a consensus of $30.2M. SA contributor Paolo Gorgo has been bullish on Immersion for some time, and has viewed an expansion of its partnership with Samsung as a potential catalyst. (PR) Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Earnings]
- Thursday, February 28, 5:22 PM Immersion Corporation (IMMR): Q4 EPS of -$0.01 beats by $0.02. Revenue of $8.86M (+15% Y/Y) misses by $1M. (PR) 1 Comment [Earnings, Breaking News, Tech]
- Monday, February 4, 1:30 PM Immersion (IMMR +3.8%) catches a bid after announcing it has expanded its haptic feedback technology licensing deal with LG Electronics to include basic haptic effects. LG already licenses Immersion's TouchSense tech, which covers more complex haptic effects. The expanded deal indicates Immersion's efforts to assert its basic haptics IP are paying off - shares took off in November after the company reached a basic haptics settlement with Motorola Mobility. 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move]
- Monday, December 17, 2012, 2:24 PM Among the sensory technologies IBM's R&D labs expects to have a big impact over the next 5 years: haptic capabilities that deliver a real-life sense of touch (IMMR is a player here); image-recognition capabilities for billions of photo/video uploads (Facebook and Google are both investing here); sensor networks for analyzing audio activity; and smell sensors embedded into mobile devices. Should these technologies take off, IBM could benefit via IP licensing and from providing analytics solutions to process the data they create. (PR) Comment! [Tech]
- Tuesday, November 27, 2012, 12:45 PM Midday top 10 gainers: ACAD +141%. CPSL +30%. IMMR +30%. RAH +27%. TSPT +12%. BWEN +12%. CUR +12%. FOLD +10%. FONR +10%. CDTI +10%. Midday top 10 Losers: STV -11%. MMR -9%. THO -11%. RECV -10%. CBAK -9%. BLIN -12%. ENMD -8%. RGDX -8%. ARCI -8%. BV -8%. Comment!
- Tuesday, November 27, 2012, 9:53 AM Immersion (IMMR +24.5%) is taking off after announcing it has settled its patent dispute with Motorola Mobility (GOOG). Immersion will be compensated for past shipments of Motorola devices containing basic haptic feedback tech, and a licensing deal has been reached for future shipments (terms are undisclosed). Investors are likely betting the settlement will pave the way for additional deals. 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move]
- Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 1:02 PM Haptic feedback tech provider Immersion (IMMR +9.4%) is now up 22% over the last two days in the absence of major news - shares have rallied strongly in the past on account of rumors. Last week, SA's Paolo Gorgo highlighted Immersion's growing Chinese presence, fueled by a partnership with upstart Android vendor Xiaomi, but also criticized its execution in turning discussions into deals. 2 Comments [Tech, On the Move]
- Monday, August 27, 2012, 2:20 PM Haptic feedback technology firm Immersion (IMMR +7.9%) and mobile projector developer Microvision (MVIS +5.6%) are both up strongly in the absence of news. One possible reason: Investors are betting the Apple-Samsung verdict will lead Android vendors to take a look at Immersion and Microvision's technologies as ways to differentiate themselves. 3 Comments [Tech, On the Move]
- Friday, August 3, 2012, 12:11 PM Immersion (IMMR +6.7%) jumps following its Q2 report. The results aren't great: revenue of $6.5M (-3% Y/Y) missed by $1.3M and EPS of -$0.08 was in-line. However, Immersion said on its earnings call it could reach new licensing deals by year's end that would allow it to reach the high end of its 2012 revenue guidance range of $32M-$38M (consensus is for $35.1M). Also, the company announced Fujitsu has released the first smartphone containing Immersion's HD Haptics tech. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Monday, June 25, 2012, 11:10 AM Immersion (IMMR -7.4%) sells off on a downgrade to Sell from Capstone Investments. Reports of of weakening smartphone sales growth are a negative for Immersion, since the company depends on royalties on devices that use its haptic feedback technology. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Friday, May 4, 2012, 6:39 PM Though rumors the latest iPad would contain haptic feedback technology didn't pan out, Apple (AAPL) remains interested in the concept, as a recent patent filing demonstrates. The filing covers technology that could provide feedback advanced enough to emulate a raised button or terrain map, and also discusses flexible OLED displays. Immersion (IMMR) could indirectly benefit from Apple's embrace of haptic technology. 4 Comments [Tech]
- Wednesday, March 7, 2012, 1:49 PM In spite of rumors to the contrary, pricing for new iPad models will be on par with that for similar iPad 2 models. Immersion (IMMR -3.7%) and OmniVision (OVTI -0.8%) have given up their early gains. Haptic feedback support hasn't yet been announced, and there may be fears that the similarities between the cameras used in the new iPad and the iPhone 4S indicate a Sony sensor is being used. Apple (AAPL -0.1%) is off slightly. (live blog) Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Wednesday, March 7, 2012, 12:52 PM Immersion (IMMR +10.5%) is spiking higher following reports the next iPad will feature advanced haptic feedback technology from rival Senseg. Apple's big event starts at 1PM ET (live blog). 2 Comments [Tech, On the Move]
