The rollout of Intel's (INTC) eagerly-anticipated "Romley" Xeon server chips will be pushed back to March, according to DigiTimes, due to problems related to pairing the chips with serial-attached SCSI (SAS) hard drives. The delay could bolster the standing of AMD's "Bulldozer" Opteron server chips, while proving a headache for analog chipmakers IPHI and VLTR.

Analog chipmaker Volterra (VLTR) is down 7.7%, as Collins Stewart lowers its estimates for the company. Collins Stewart thinks the delayed rollout of Intel's (INTC) Romley server platform will hurt Volterra, just as it's hurting fellow analog vendor Inphi (IPHI -28.5%). (previously)

Semiconductor firm Inphi (IPHI) plummets in after hours trading after cutting its Q3 guidance due to a slowdown in orders and delays in shipping its next generation iMB and RDIMM products. The company now expects Q3 revenue in the range of $16M to $18M, below consensus estimates of $23M. Shares -27% AH.
