- Friday, May 10, 9:18 AM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) issues "urgent medical device notification" regarding "micro-cracks" (which the company warns may not be visible to the naked eye) in mono polar curved scissors that could result in leaks, creating a "pathway for electrosurgical energy" to reach tissue, causing "thermal injury" (i.e. burns). Shares -2.63% premarket. (Herb Greenberg) 2 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Friday, April 19, 8:00 PM Things could get dicey for Intuitive Surgical over the next few days, as CNBC rolls out the "The da Vinci Debate," a critical expose on ISRG's high-tech da Vinci robot. The piece comes at a difficult time for the company, who earlier today acknowleged in a 10-Q filing that it's currently the defendent in approximately 26 individual product liability lawsuits by plaintiffs who allege that they sustained a variety of personal injuries and, in some cases, death as a result of the robotic surgery. 13 Comments [Healthcare]
- Friday, April 19, 1:42 PM Goldman Sachs thinks today's weakness in Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -4.7%) is a buying opportunity, on the back of what it calls a "solid" Q1 report. Procedure growth may have fallen short of expectations, but Goldman thinks the slowdown looks consistent with trends across the space (seasonality, declines in hospital admissions), and the impact from negative headlines, while unclear and will take time to prove out, are not material. 6 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move, Earnings]
- Thursday, April 18, 4:25 PM More on Intuitive Surgical (ISRG): Q1 beats across the board as the company reports a 23% jump in Y/Y revenue despite the headaches surrounding its da Vinci surgical robot. The stock has fallen roughly 15% since February, raising concerns that sales could suffer in FY13. Tune in to the conference call at 4:30 EST here: (Webcast). Shares -0.7% AH. 1 Comment [Healthcare, Earnings]
- Thursday, April 18, 4:06 PM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG): Q1 EPS of $4.56 beats by $0.52. Revenue of $611M (+23% Y/Y) beats by $27.41M. Shares +3.6% AH. (PR) 2 Comments [Earnings, Breaking News, Healthcare, On the Move]

- Friday, April 12, 2:32 PM The headaches keep 'a coming for Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -0.2%). The latest to hit the news circuit is that the Colorado Medical Board has filed 14 counts of unprofessional conduct against a local surgeon in relation to his use of the da Vinci surgical robot in a series of failed surgeries from 2008 to 2010. To be fair, a number of charges were unrelated to the use of the device, but the board does specifically accuse the doctor of misrepresenting the robot's success rate, and claims he never offered standard surgical procedures as an option for his patients. 4 Comments [Healthcare]
- Wednesday, March 27, 11:57 AM Washington state court denies Intuitive Surgical's (ISRG -0.2%) bid to have a lawsuit alleging "improper marketing" of its da Vinci surgical robot thrown out. Plaintiffs say the company did not provide adequate physician training while a company spokesperson says the decision "was not based on the merits of the case." 1 Comment [Healthcare]
- Thursday, March 21, 7:50 AM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) has increased its stock repurchase program by $1B, bringing the total plan to $1.21B. The move comes after concerns were raised this month about the cost-benefit of using robotic devices for hysterectomy procedures. Shares +3.45%. (PR) 1 Comment [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Wednesday, March 20, 4:25 PM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) never batted an eye to concerns raised earlier today by Massachusetts health officials about injuries linked to robot surgery. In a statement on the state's Board of Registration in Medicine website, officials noted an increasing number of reports of patient complications related to the devices over the last two years. Nonetheless, the stock finished out at its high for the day, +2.6%. 4 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Monday, March 18, 10:42 AM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG +4.2%) gets a lift today after Canaccord upgraded the shares to Buy on valuation, but lowers its price target to $527 from $590. The firm says that the target reduction stems from adjusting its P/E/G multiple to bring it in line with comps, but even with the reduced target that still leaves the stock with 10% - 15% upside potential and justifies an upgrade. 3 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Friday, March 15, 12:40 PM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -5.5%) continues its fall again today, adding further downside to yesterday's selloff after the American Congress of OB/GYNs questioned the cost-benefit of using robotic devices for hysterectomy surgeries. In late February, it was reported that the FDA was scrutinizing an increase in reports of complications using ISRG's da Vinci surgical robot. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Thursday, March 14, 3:16 PM Bank of America Merrill Lynch is apparently coming to the defense of Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -3.4%), saying its surprised by the selloff, because ACOG's post fundamentally isn't any different from previous articles already posted by JAMA. Citron also made cautious comments on the stock earlier this month based on the same topic as well. 4 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Thursday, March 14, 3:00 PM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -2.7%) takes a hit on comments posted by American Congress of OB/GYN president James T. Breeden, MD, saying that he doesn't see robotic surgery as the most cost-efficient procedure for hysterectomies, and that expensive technology for routine surgical care does not improve patient outcomes. Consequently, there is no good data proving that robotic hysterectomy is even as good as — let alone better— than existing, and far less costly, minimally invasive alternatives. 4 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Monday, March 4, 1:59 PM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -3.2%) slips after a cautious mention on Twitter by Citron Research, saying hospitals are beginning to question the value of robotic surgery. The tweet links to an article in the Monterey Herald that infers ISRG's da Vinci system is nothing more than "razzle-dazzle marketing," and questions whether the $2m price tag is justified. 1 Comment [Healthcare, On the Move]

Comments about $ISRG do not indicate a long stance, just that some of the debate is misleading or inaccurate. Real concerns do exist. - View all 0 replies

johncworth: All accounts I read say MSFT beat. AH action supports that. And GOOG beat on profit, not on sales. IBM no good though. A wash. -
Money Investor: Bill - thoughts on $GOOG earnings in light of their lower tax rate? 8% this quarter versus 18% in previous quarter. Earnings miss?
