Friday, April 19, 8:00 PM Things could get dicey for Intuitive Surgical over the next few days, as CNBC rolls out the "The da Vinci Debate," a critical expose on ISRG's high-tech da Vinci robot. The piece comes at a difficult time for the company, who earlier today acknowleged in a 10-Q filing that it's currently the defendent in approximately 26 individual product liability lawsuits by plaintiffs who allege that they sustained a variety of personal injuries and, in some cases, death as a result of the robotic surgery. 13 Comments [Healthcare]

Friday, April 12, 2:32 PM The headaches keep 'a coming for Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -0.2%). The latest to hit the news circuit is that the Colorado Medical Board has filed 14 counts of unprofessional conduct against a local surgeon in relation to his use of the da Vinci surgical robot in a series of failed surgeries from 2008 to 2010. To be fair, a number of charges were unrelated to the use of the device, but the board does specifically accuse the doctor of misrepresenting the robot's success rate, and claims he never offered standard surgical procedures as an option for his patients. 4 Comments [Healthcare]
Wednesday, March 27, 11:57 AM Washington state court denies Intuitive Surgical's (ISRG -0.2%) bid to have a lawsuit alleging "improper marketing" of its da Vinci surgical robot thrown out. In a statement on the state's Board of Registration in Medicine website, officials noted an increasing number of reports of patient complications related to the devices over the last two years. Monday, March 18, 10:42 AM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG +4.2%) gets a lift today after Canaccord upgraded the shares to Buy on valuation, but lowers its price target to $527 from $590. Thursday, March 14, 3:00 PM Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -2.7%) takes a hit on comments posted by American Congress of OB/GYN president James T. Breeden, MD, saying that he doesn't see robotic surgery as the most cost-efficient procedure for hysterectomies, and that expensive technology for routine surgical care does not improve patient outcomes.
